20x200: Amazing art for affordable prices

I have a very cool and arty friend who used to work in a New York gallery. She has just come back from a visit to the States and let me in on a little American secret. Every home she visited while she was there was decorated with at least one print from 20x200. What's that? Well, it's sure to be as popular here too, as it's a ridiculously simply and great idea. 20x200 is devoted to offering artists' work at museum quality at low low prices in very limited numbers. They've now released over 400 editions covering art for every taste and budget.

The site features a mixture of established and emerging artists. Stuart Klipper, whose Emperor Penguins are featured above also has work in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the V&A. You can have your very own 11" x 14" print for $60 (just under £40).

Prices depend on size and how collectible the artist is. Time, by Helena Wurtzel costs $24 for a 8"x10" print. That means, when you add shipping, it's less than £35.

If you really, really like something, you can pay into the thousands for the larger-sized prints. Big or large, expensive or cheap, each is signed by the artist and numbered so you know you own one of a select number. Building up your own collection of original art has never seemed so easy. The Lotus Eaters above is by Jessica Craig-Martin whose photos have appeared in the likes of Vogue and Vanity Fair. And possibly now in your front room.

There's new prints every week, including older stuff too, images that the founder of the site Jens Bekman, simply really really likes such as this, A Map of the Open Country of a Woman's Heart, dating to the early nineteenth century.

It's fun to browse the site and to try and hone your own curatorial skills. Never has Kat's nifty framing company seemed so valuable.

20x200: my love for you can surely only multiply.

  1. Oh! I love A Map of the Open Country of a Woman's Heart - I have it framed in my house! So great. This site is a brilliant find, Frances!

    1. Ah, what excellent taste you have! Thank you - we all better be quick and snap up those limited editions before our Stateside pals.

  2. Thanks so much, what a great site! That's a few Christmas presents sorted (and maybe just a small one for me...?)

    1. Definitely one for you I think Emma. Have fun deciding and let us know which one you pick.

  3. Great images! Beautiful! I'm also a fan of canvas wall art that can be gigantic. I love how artworks can transport you anywhere: a new travel adventure, an old memory, anything.

  4. Oh my, there's hours of my time and all my money gone. Fab find!

  5. Everyone here on team 20x200 loves you too, Frances!
