This will be followed by a swift visit to the local village pub where I will undoubtedly drink too much. Then back home to await the arrival of mother, sister, brother in law, 2 sweet little girls, but most importantly, my soulmate and his 16 yr old daughter - this will be our first 'family' chrismas together and it will have none of the previous years' stresses and strains. There will be too much food, not enough alcohol, lots of loud music and laughter and silly games :-) Thinking of what's to come will get me through the morning. And maybe chocolate and the odd sneaky glass or two of fizz :-) Who cares if the turkey is overdone?!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1273652815577465353.post-48662111123168385932009-12-17T22:15:23.524+00:002009-12-17T22:15:23.524+00:00This year I will be wearing THAT dress, not just a...This year I will be wearing THAT dress, not just any dress, the one that is 7 sizes smaller than the one I rejected last year for being to unflattering. 1 year and 6 stone later I will be tottering around the house in my 4" mules in my short short skirt with my boobs hoisted up under my chin for all to notice. Which isn't hugely interesting as a statement but is really special for me. Growing up there was no Christmas-ness in my Indian family so these last three Christmases I've spent with my new family have had me giddy. Presents and food and decorations and old people and wine and sing-alongs and chilly walks and charades and dozy television! I get dizzy just thinking about it, and usually start to in February. I don't see my family at all and the Jenkins' have adopted me as one of their own which is especially comforting at Christmas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1273652815577465353.post-89100768405278997282009-12-17T11:04:23.232+00:002009-12-17T11:04:23.232+00:00Christmas will be spent at home, tucked away in th...Christmas will be spent at home, tucked away in the snowy (hopefully) hills of Fort William and will be the first time in a few years where nobody is working meaning my mum, little sister and I can all have a relaxing dinner together which will be lovely. We have made a stand and decided to scrap the turkey tradition (as 20 years of it can become rather tiresome) and treat ourselves to A HAM! AND SCALLOPS! I would list the entire meal but may explode with excitemnt. After dinner, a few glasses of wine and being amazed how my mum always does everything she can just for us I shall tipsily don my winter coat and wellies to brave the Highland chill and visit my dad and grandparents. We will spend most of the night listening to great music (my dad has taste!) and laughing at my granny telling jokes which are never funny. Ironically, her complete lack of comic timing is hilarious!

My boyfriend (of almost a year) absolutely adores Christmas and has magically rekindled my festive flame, which I am ever so grateful for. I have already been psyching myself up for the occasion with batches of mulled wine. And soon there shall be drinking of eggnog and snowballs, scoffing of giant pretzels and bubbling of home made pear chutney for friends and family! I have promised to carry out toxicity tests on all of my creations, much to the relief of everybody concerned.

To win a REAL tree would be a dream come true as we've never had one! As would winning a beautful outfit for Christmas. Having said that I'll be gloriously happy with our little plastic tree and my fun Christmas jumper so long as we are together, cooking delicious food, sharing and enjoying every second of our jovial banter. And although this year we really are on a supersupersuper tight budget, as are most people, I honestly think this shall be the best Christmas yet!

Merry Christmas!

RT @removeyaRachelnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1273652815577465353.post-52586847728618340622009-12-17T08:48:41.771+00:002009-12-17T08:48:41.771+00:00I'll be in Belgium!

This is my second Christmas since the accident and it means more to me than last year because I was quite sad still last year.
