Cute or Creepy? Abigail Ahern Bulldog Lamp

Opinion was fiercely divided when we featured a teddybear with a lamp for a head last May, but what about a ceramic bulldog with a lamp coming out of his head? Personally, I reckon this glum-looking bad boy would be quite sweet sat by a fireplace.

Designed by Abigail Ahern, he's hand-made in England and comes with a taffeta shade made in Paris. And for the readers who aren't so struck on bulldogs, there are similar versions featuring a poodle or a greyhound.

What do you reckon? Guaranteed to scare off visitors as well as intruders, or on the charming side of surreal? He's sold by the French Bedroom Company and will set you back £295. But at least you won't have to take him for walks.

It's a dog's life: Alfie at NW3

I've fallen slightly in love with the librarian chic of NW3 by Hobbs: it's all colourful cardigans, tweedy skirts and shoes that hint at a wilder side. However there comes a time when even librarians have to desert the comfort of books for some creature comforts. Time then to meet NW3's Alfie.

Here he is and isn't he just lovely? This vintage-style enamel brooch in his honour is just the thing to brighten up a jacket. It costs £25.

Oh look, here he pops up again! He's a lively little thing isn't he? This gorgeous scarf is perfect for keeping you warm during walkies or for wearing while scampering in the woods. It's £49. Check out the Alfie sweater for an alternative winter warmer.

It would be rude not to share Alfie's love. He's an affectionate creature after all. These socks are surely the perfect Secret Santa gift for a dog-lover (or yourself) at £5.

And there you have it, that's Alfie. Cute and covetable, he's guaranteed to be your friend for life, not just for Christmas.

Perfect Purses: Sausage Dog Clutch

I don't think I'd ever be glum again if I owned this adorable little sausage dog handbag. If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know I sometimes babysit a little sausage dog belonging to a friend, and since I've had occasional custody of him, I'm even more convinced the whole would be cheerier if more people owned these custesy comical canines.

Made by Pepa Loves, he comes in a choice of grey or blue, and is fully-lined with a zipper tail. And if he's a tad too kooky for you to use on everyday basis, you could always use him as a make-up bag or pencil case. He's £22, from Lunacy Boutique.

Cute or Creepy? Graham and Green Kitsch Table Lamps

Most of the time, Graham & Green get it spot on for me. But I'm just not sure about these kitsch table lamps they've created (£65 each). I don't want a glowing skull in my bedroom (although playing at Hamlet before bedtime might be quite fun). But, the rabbit is cute and I'll bet Jane likes him. I'm a bit creeped out, but they're kinda cool. What do you think? Are they creepy or pretty?

Graham & Green Stripy Doggy Doorstops

Usually, homewares dressed as cutesy animals are anything but chic. Sure, I have a few cuddly toys about the place (I'm very protective over my fluffy Pegasus toy), but I don't really want my house covered in cute stuff.

But, I do want these stripy dogs from Graham and Green. There's a doggy doorstop (£16)! And a draught excluder (£35), although I haven't seen one of those used since 1987. These are just the right amount of fun and cute and you can pre order them. They should be with you in the next 2-3 weeks.
