Graham & Green for Spring

Over the next week or so, you're going to be seeing all sorts of new pretty things popping into the shops. In clothes shops, it doesn't work so well, because you walk about thinking "why are you trying to sell me this maxi dress?! It's RAINING!" and leave in a sulk (or is that just me?) But all of my favourite interiors shops go very bright all of a sudden. Especially Graham & Green. I often prefer their summery stuff to the rest of the year, and their new collection is lovely:

This kitchen rack is an absolute must-have. Useful, unusual and coincidentally matches the colour of the kitchen in Sluttery HQ. It's £120 and available on pre-order. The jasmine bowls are lovely too.

These stunning Aladdin vases just popped up in our Sluttery Picks Twitterstream and they're such an amazing colour. They're tiny, for the very prettiest little flowers, so they're £12 for six.

OK, so I can't afford this bone inlay chest of drawers, and it's the same as their black and pink versions. All they've done is change the colour. But what a stunning colour it is. Shame it's £1495.

I love these items in the new range, but there isn't much that really stands out at me. Except these lampshades. But they're standing out for all the wrong reasons.

Graham & Green Garden Tea Set

Is there a more spring happy way to spend the evening than drinking in the dwindling sunshine? (Aside from drinking in sunshine that isn't dwindling.) OK, I grant you, sunshine is dwindling at around 5:30 at the moment, so you'd have to be quick, or fully commit to afternoon drinking, but the clocks go forward on Sunday! Which means daylight and sunshine and all those fun things.

So, I'm coveting this garden table set from Graham & Green. The blue is my favourite, and it's pretty reasonably priced too. The chairs are £56 for the pair and the table is £45. Free delivery until the 25th too.

Home Office: Graham & Green Brass Desk

There's no getting away from the fact that desks are boring. Often made out of melamine, which is something I never ever want in my home if I can help it, I'm looking for something a little more unique. This beaten brass desk from Graham & Green is so sleek and sexy. When else are you going to get gold into your office? I imagine if you're a very tidy desk keeper, the gold might be too much. Luckily, my desk is the messiest place in my house. Organised chaos has finally paid off. This desk is wonderful. And £575. Considering it'll last me a lifetime and I'll use it every single day, that's a small price to pay for all those blog posts.

Heal's turns 200

After spotting this fabulous 30s armchair over on Retro To Go, I thought I'd take a little look over on the Heal's website. I've never really been bowled over with their furniture, but this chair of gorgeous so I was curious enough to take a look. They're celebrating 200 years of homewares, and if you want to celebrate with them, snap up some of these things:

Oooh I want these wine glasses. Only £11.50.

I love these Missoni butterfly towels. They'll make my bathroom much prettier. They start at £12.50.

Very impressed with these Pantone scales. They're £25.

Heal's is certainly going to be on my radar from now on. There's some really exciting stuff on their website, and they've got a fabulous designers section. Giving Habitat a run for their money? I haven't quite decided yet. I'll just have to do more shopping to make my mind up.

Shop in the spotlight: Eni

I was looking for a pair of new shoes when I stumbled across Eni. But they've got so many pretty things that I just had to share with you. Like these heart shaped mixing bowls and measuring cups.

And this Klimt inspired clutch bag.

They do homestuffs too! This green cabinet it perfect Even if it is £750 more than I have in my purse.

Domestic Sluttery wants your furnture!

When I wrote about that stunning chest of drawers yesterday, a few of you pointed out that you could quite easily find an old chest of drawers and paint it yourself. And you could be right. So I had an idea. Why don't you send your battered old furniture to Domestic Sluttery HQ and see if the team can do any better?

Now here's the thing, we're not furniture restorers. We're not interior designers and we might mess it up. But I'm curious to see how easy it is. After all, it's so easy to say "you could throw a lick of paint on an old table", but is it really that simple? Well, I want to find out.

So here's a furniture call. Send us photos of stuff you don't mind us playing with! Not gigantic stuff - Domestic Sluttery HQ is a shared house and our non-slutty housemates don't want it to look like an episode of Cash in The Attic. We only want to do a couple of pieces, and no, we can't reupholster that giant sofa with expensive vintage fabric. But if you've got a rubbish chair like that one in the photo, email us and we'll see what we can do.

Remember, we've never done this before. We could be rubbish! So don't send us something you really really care about. You're not allowed to be mad if we mess it up! But, if you've got something you don't think you'll use again otherwise, send us a picture and make sure you can deliver it to one of us if we think we can make it shiny (on a budget too! We're thrifty girls!)

We promise to blog doing it up, and hopefully you'll be happy with the results and send us flowers. Or, it'll be a complete disaster like in 60 Minute Makeover and we'll never speak of it again. Let's find out!

Lytton and Lily Kitchen Workstation

My goodness kitchen workstation this is pretty. Is there anything better than freestanding kitchen units? Don't get me wrong, there's some really great fitted kitchens out there, but they're all so... fitted. I don't like uniform things. This is a happy medium though, as long as you've got space for it.

It's from Lytton and Lily and it'll set you back £520. I'd be inclined to put this in a large kitchen dining room so you could use it as a serving area as well as for preparation. If you concentrate on it's super-multi-usability-ness, it doesn't matter that it cost hundreds, right?

Emma Bridgewater takes on the aga

Cookers, fridges and the like aren't often featured on Domestic Sluttery. Because they're mostly really really boring. But then I caught wind of this polka dot aga designed by Emma Bridgewater and I love it. I've never cooked with an aga, and honestly I think my landlady would probably be against me ripping out the fixtures and fittings in the kitchen. But I bet if she saw a picture of it she'd change her mind. It's classic Bridgewater but it's new and exciting! I wants it! God it would look great in my kitchen.

It's limited edition and £9,999. OK, so I can't really afford that, but maybe this is a turning point for standard designed cookers? Can they be jazzed up a bit please? At least throw a lick of paint on them.

Shop in the spotlight: Unto This Last

Unto This Last aren't the kind of shop where I think "Oh my god, I must buy everything" (and my bank manager is very happy about this), but when they get it right, it's bang on. Unusual, sleek design with the highest quality wood. It's hard to argue with that really.

These are tealight holders! Honestly! They come in the triangle shapes you can see, and you can slot them together however you like. They're £4 each. Love them.

Are these shelves practical? No. But they look a damn sight prettier than those flat-pack ones I got from Ikea. They're £420.

This chair isn't my usual taste at all. But I love it. There's something about the curve in it that I really like. It's not often I'll choose design over comfort, but this chair is different. It's £200 which actually, I think is pretty good value.

Unto This Last are based at Brick Lane, nearest tubes are Liverpool Street/Aldgate East.

Design Porn: Powder Blue Gazebo

I'm off to the Secret Garden Party this week and I'm looking at much more garden stuff as a result. Domestic Sluttery HQ does indeed have a garden, but it's not very big. It's certainly not big enough to fit this stunning gazebo anywhere. Which is a real shame. I might have to move. And then somehow raise the £2100 to buy it from Powder Blue.

Design Porn: Kent and London Alphabet Drawers

I love these alphabet drawers. I'm a self-confessed book geek and while these aren't my usual style, they are stunning. Mix typography with good design and I'm pretty much sold. These popped up in our Twitter stream a little while ago and I've found my self staring at them on more than on occasion. They're from Kent and London and they're £2700. I'll have to wait a while until I can afford them.

Thanks to LizS4ra and Nuttycow for the tip off! Want to follow us on Twitter and show us nice things you've found? Then do!

The Perfect Kitchen Cabinet

This kitchen cabinet is from Jasmine Way. It's perfect. It's so pretty, but it's practical too. Look at all of those sneaky places for all of your stuff! Such a nice colour too. I'm not usually a fan of free standing kitchen units, but this one is really special. It's £460 and I'm certain that it would make me cook more, I'm sure of it. Although I'm not sure that the wine rack would ever stay fully stocked...

Beautiful Butterfly Cabinet from Oliver Bonas

Look at this stunning cabinet! I am totally in love with the butterfly style lock. It's £225 from Oliver Bonas and will look lovely in my bedroom with the matching set of storage chests

Oliver Bonas is doing really well at the moment, and they've also got a sale on too! Hurrah!!

Kartell Kitchen, anyone?

I know I tend to lean towards vintage furniture. But, sometimes something modern is just so stunning I can't help but fall in love a little bit. So these Kartell chairs have got me having a little love affair. I feel like I'm cheating on my pretty rickety old furniture. I love the glass panel at the top. Sometimes simple can be very effective.

Unfortunately, these Phillip Stark designed chairs won't look right in my house, but that's just as well as they're £143 each from Lifestyle Bazaar. They're quite striking, no?

Sweet, sweet dreams: Shawn Lovell Metalworks tree bed

Groan.

There is something deeply, irrevocably ingrained in my DNA that draws me like a helpless, financially disabled zombie towards items that are way above and beyond my budget. I promise you, it's actually some sort of genetic illness or mental defect. Give me a copy of Grazia, open it to any page, and immediately my eyeballs will bypass the £90 dress or the £60 clutch and zero in on the £1,200 boots.

Groan. Sigh.

Enter Shawn Lovell Metalworks, and their stupid, hateful, beautiful, incredibly perfect, wonderful, almost-as-if-they-know-me, pretty, stunningly gorgeous, oh-god-I-want-it-so-much-I-could-weep metal tree bed frame.

I know this probably isn't to everyone's tastes - it might even be a bit obnoxious. It's kind of a bold, centre-of-the-room statement piece rather than something that just goes beautifully with everything.

But I love it. It has a sort of fairytaley, Snow Whitey feel to it. In this bed, I would always sleep in silk nightgowns. And when I woke up in the morning, tiny singing bluebirds would lay my clothes out for me and tie back my hair in a ribbon. And then a handsome member of some far-flung royal family would sweep into my bedroom and say, "There you are! I love you! Let me buy you pretty things and put you up in my awesome palace!"

So many things are possible with a bed like this.

As long as you have $US15,000 to buy it in the first place.

Lazing On A Sunny Afternoon

I find something incredibly decadent about lounging around on a sunny afternoon. I don't whether it's the unspoken permission to indulge in a jug of a summer cocktail or the brilliance of having an afternoon nap outside.

If I had the space then I would definitely get this Riviera Day Bed from Rawgarden. Not only would it indulge decadent lounging but it also doubles as separate sofas and storage. And the included sun shade means no mistaken burning. All pretty handy really and for £685, I could certainly justify it as a necessity!

So blindingly pretty you might have to Squint

After I posted a piccy of my latest furniture lust from Plumo, Domestic Slut Abi tweeted "I see your Plumo and raise you this Squint." Squint? What is this Squint she speaks of? Well, this is Squint:

Isn't it lovely? It's also £4000 worth of lovely, but luckily the chairs are a little cheaper:

This lovely chair is only £2800, a bargain in comparison, but it is a bit out of my budget. But still, they're very pretty to look at aren't they? And, if you spilled wine on them, it'd just look like part of the pattern. Good work, Abi!

My new obsession: Plumo Kyoto Bench

I'm in love. I want this bench sooooooooo much. It goes with none of my stuff but I don't care. I have to have it. It's from Plumo and it's made with stunning replica kimono fabric. And look. Look how pretty. I just have to wait 27 days until pay day and then it'll be all mine. It's a bargain at £159 but I've spent so much money on all of the other stuff we've written about, I have to sit and be patient aaaaaaaall month. Humph. Until then, I'm just going to sit and stare at it for hours.
