Sluttishly Easy: Fresh lemonade

I love fresh lemonade. It's my favourite thing. I'm drinking some right now (yes, I'm a tad hungover). But I figure, if you're not hungover, it's pretty easy to make.

Here's what you need:

3 chopped lemons - make sure you get all of the pips out.
4 tablespoons of sugar
Crushed ice
750mls of water.

Throw everything into a blender. Whisk it all up and sip under a shady tree in the garden.

See? I told you it was easy, didn't I?

Shop in the spotlight: Love from Random

I stumbled across Love From Random last week and I'm smitten. Everything from retro goodies to fun arty stuff is packed into this wonderful online shop. But it's affordable too! Hooray!

Here are a few things you can find in the pretty shop:

I like cute little purses, you know that. But I'm also rather fond of Paddington Bear too. (Although I personally don't care for marmalade sandwiches). This teensy purse is only £6.99.

I'd be much more likely to wake up if I had this alarm clock. Wonder Woman rocks. And it's a purse string happy £12.

Yes, that is colouring in wallpaper. How much do I want that in Domestic Sluttery HQ? Really rather a lot. £35 a roll. Bargain.

If you like these things, pop over to the website for even more goodies. They're really nice over there and they've promised to give Domestic Sluttery readers a 10% discount until the end of May. Just type in promotion code DS05 to get your discount. Time to get me some of that wallpaper...

Etsy Pick: Alice in Wonderland "Drink Me" Ring

"It was all very well to say 'Drink me,' but the wise little Alice was not going to do that in a hurry. 'No, I'll look first,' she said, 'and see whether it's marked "poison" or not'; for she had read several nice little histories about children who had got burnt, and eaten up by wild beasts and other unpleasant things, all because they would not remember the simple rules their friends had taught them: such as, that a red-hot poker will burn you if you hold it too long; and that if you cut your finger very deeply with a knife, it usually bleeds; and she had never forgotten that, if you drink much from a bottle marked 'poison,' it is almost certain to disagree with you, sooner or later."
Get your whimsical Alice in Wonderland-related jewellery at Northampton-based makers of "delightful jewellery and frippery made in England", Hoolala. This golden filigree "drink me" ring will cost you $18 USD, and comes with a gorgeous set of free tiny prints and cards. I have one myself and wear it daily.

Ormonde Jayne scented candles - our little secret

My flat is part of big, drafty old Georgian house, and I often find my hallway smells of whatever my downstairs neighbour is cooking. With this in mind I'm always on the lookout for good scented candles (I hate air fresheners). As far as budget buys go, Yankee Candles take some beating, but I have a secret addiction to overpriced boutique brands and perfume-based candles.

My latest discovery is Ormonde Jayne, a beautiful little perfumery hidden in the Royal Arcade off London's Bond Street. Their Frangipani scent is heavenly, like a grown-up version of the tropical, fruity florals many of us wore as a teenagers. I burn the candle only on very special occasions, but whenever I do, the flat suddenly becomes twice as homely. These babies make the perfect gifts, and come perfectly wrapped in the trademark orange and black paper. Far more unusual than Diptyque but just as luxurious, they give the impression you know about something fabulous before everyone else. Just remember who told you!

Paint Palette: Dramatic black

It's high time for a little bit of drama on Domestic Sluttery. And there's no better way to inject drama than add some monochrome touches to your house. It's simple, and looks fantastic. Here is some fantastic black stuff to sharpen up your home:

Nothing is more simple and dramatic than fancy candle holders. These aren't cheap, but anything from Birgit Isreal will add a certain amount of flair to a room.

It's rare to find black lighting that doens't darken a room. Very clever indeed. This light fixure is from Places and Spaces.

I love the little dragonfly motifs on these salad spoons. They're from Zara Home.

This sexy ice bucket is from Dwell. It is strange that I find home-stuffs sexy?

Mmm yummy: Montezuma Chocolate Tower

Now, you know we here at Domestic Sluttery are fans of the odd cupcake or three. But sometimes, you want to buy a present for someone who just isn't a cupcake person (I know, crazy, huh?) So I think you should buy them this instead. It's a great big selection of little teensy Montezuma's choccy bars. They're all really interesting flavours too. I want the white chocolate and chilli and ginger one the most.

See? Sweet treats without a single bit of frosting. Aren't we clever. Oh, by the way, it's £15 from Montezuma's.
