Tell us about your baking disasters!

Today, I was meant to be sharing a recipe for pecan pie with you. But I ruined it. Not just a little bit. I added one too many eggs which resulted in pecan omelette pie. It's easily the worst thing I've ever made. I've got enough ingredients to try again, and this time I'll go easy on the eggs.

Hehe! Omelette pie! I don't get stressed about baking disasters. Sure, I'd like to be eating pecan pie right now, but messing up sometimes is fun. Even though Domestic Sluttery HQ smells of scrambled eggs and maple syrup. Yucky.

So c'mon, share with us your baking disasters! Tell us just how much of a mess you've made in the kitchen. And then laugh at everyone for messing up. I bet even Delia does it.

What's your biggest baking disaster?

Bollocks to baking: Chocolate truffle brownies from Sugarmonkey

Brownies are my weakness. I love a good 'trendy' treat (be it a cupcake, macaron or whoopie pie) but in all honesty, when you've had a really bad day, what is better than a sticky, gooey chunk of indulgent chocolatey goodness? Brownies hit the spot every time.

Have I got your attention? Good, because if you love brownies, you're going to love Sugarmonkey. They take brownies to the next level, by combining them with that other Domestic Sluttery favourite - the chocolate truffle. And Oh My God. Chocolate Truffle Brownies are good!

In my opinion, the best brownies are the ones that are thick, gooey and only just set - and by adding the truffle ganache to these brownies, you get all that and more. They are the densest, richest brownies I've ever eaten, full of chocolate and definitely not for the faint-hearted. I think they're so successful because they also have quite a strong salty taste. This might be too much for some people, but I thought it worked really well (a la salted caramel) to offset the cloying sweetness and create something really moreish. So moreish, in fact, that I only got to eat two of them because the boyfriend polished off the rest, taking the brand's tagline - "apply to face" - a bit too literally.

Sugarmonkey's chocolate truffle brownies (in milk or dark) are £11.00 for six. That's quite pricey, but trust me when I say a little goes a long way! Regular brownies are £9.50, and they also offer a Gluten free version of all the recipes.

All the brownies come packaged in pretty purple recycled packaging, and the boxes are small enough to fit through most letterboxes, making them the perfect surprise gift!

Bag Lust: Kiki's Boutique Travel Satchel

I've got a thing about satchels. They're cute, they're practical and I do really like that whole preppy thing. This travel satchel from Kiki's Boutique is fab. The maps are a cute touch, and so are the little air mail trims. Return to Sender is written on the front in swirly writing. I have way too many handbags already, but this one is only £49.

Practically Perfect

Well we're not perfect, not even a little bit, but I do rather like this Mary Poppins inspired tea towel by Luckies of London. It's from brand new shop Pelican Pear and it's £8. There's lots of exciting things over there, so go and check them out.

Sunshine Tomorrow!

Just looking at this sunshine tile has made me more smiley. There might be sunshine tomorrow, and sunshine means ice creams and sun hats and iced tea and grass inbetween your toes and kissing boys in shorts. All of those things are good. Sunshine is lovely. This tile is £21 worth of lovely.

This tile is from Kiss Her, and we featured a lovely print from Bianca earlier in the year. If you hop over to her shop now, she'll give you a special Sluttery discount. Just type in PINACOLADA at the checkout to save 20%.

All that, and there might even be sunshine tomorrow. Fabulous.

Divine Dresses: Lace-up Back at Urban Outfitters

How cute is this lace-up dress from Urban Outfitters? I actually think without the corset-esque back it would be quite dull. There are flirty floral dresses all over the shop at the moment. But this one is cute and interesting. Perfect for romantic summer walks. Especially since it's in the sale so it's only £39.99 now.

Cupboard Lust: Paris Paper Mapkins

I don't know what I love more about these babies: whether it's that they've been meticulously printed with maps of Paris, or the fact that they're called 'mapkins.' I think it's the name that seals the deal, but it's a close call.

The paper napkins, by Drift Living, are only £2.99 for a pack of twenty, and they're intended to be used as dinner party conversation starters, or to prompt your guests to reminisce about their fondest memories of gay Paris. And if you end up spending the entire evening nattering away about your favourite Parisian places, you can always keep them afterwards and use them to find each others hidden gems on your next Parisian adventure.

Plus, they're far more chic than carrying around maps drawn in smudged blue biro on crumpled plain paper napkins, non?
