DS Poll: Are you a fan of the loo library?!

Modern bathrooms have a tendency to look a bit sterile, so I'm a huge fan of anything that'll make them look more fun. Aside from a dozen bottles of perfume, scented candles, mugs full of makeup brushes and artfully arranged tubs and bottles of exotic looking cosmetics, I'm also a fan of the 'loo library'. And I'm not talking about sticky copies of men's mags here. Growing up, my parents always kept books in the bathroom (I learned a lot about art!) but I know not everyone's so comfortable with the idea of flicking through coffee table books while, um, you know...

So I thought I'd put it to a poll! Are you like me, giving your visitors a choice of non-fiction, copies of Cosmo and the parish magazine, or would you rather not think about how people occupy their time while they're doing their thang?

  1. Oh definitely. I'm a big fan of the 'Loo Read'. We pretty much had a library in there when I was growing up...

  2. It's a great way of catching up on your reading. I'm not suggesting reading a novel, but books of poems are pretty suitable (plus, it means you can pretend you read epic poetry, when really you just search through and read the shortest ones)

  3. I think books and magazines are as essential in a loo as toilet paper and a towel (but clearly not for the same purpose!). I want a book case in mine. My brother in law had one bolted to the wall of his with some incredible books in there. Mine tends to have music tech mags, Garfield books (for the kids) and a few books that I am slowly but surely working my way through, although I appreciate that isn't the best phrase to use in an article about toilet habits! ;o)

  4. *have* to have a loo library. Mine has all those "funny" books you get at Christmas and whatever book I've got on the go. (so to speak)

  5. A library in the lav looks lovely BUT and it is a big BUT…

Sitting on the loo for too long a time than is really necessary can give you piles!!! Do your business and get up, I work in the medical profession and have quite a lot to do with bowels so I know what I am talking about this isn’t a myth.
