Where did this sudden trend for cupcake decorating classes spring up from? What happened to the slap dash approach (which I'm a big fan of by the way). I wanna make a mess and get frosting everywhere! But then I remembered the lovely little flowers that Sharon made and maybe learning how to do cake crafting might not be such a bad idea.
But then I realised that it's really really expensive. I already know how to make a damn good frosting. I know my cakes! I don't want to spend hundreds learning how to do this and I can't see the value in shelling out to whip up icing sugar. But I've found a couple of courses that won't cost you the earth.
The Make Lounge have come up trumps with what sounds like the perfect cake decorating course. It's two and a half hours, and it'll cost you £47. You get to play about with glitter and sprinkles and have all sorts of fun (while drinking wine) and then you take a box of yumminess home with you. Yay!
Mums Who Bake have started classes too! (Remember we featured them a little while ago after discovering their cupcake carriers were a bargain?) Their cake decorating course is in Milton Keynes and they book in groups. For the bargain price of £20-25 per person. That's brilliant. As you're booking in a group, you can theme your cakes too. Very handy if you want to get practising for an event. Even if you go on your own, it's only £30.
I'm really tempted by both of these courses and they sound really good value. While I save my pennies, I'm going to just have fun whisking up stuff in my kitchen and making a great big frosting mess all over the place. With extra sprinkles.
