Bollocks to baking: Faircake

I've always cooed over Faircake. They look fantastic, they won Londonist's cupcake throwdown and I've wanted to get my mits on a box for a while. But they're not cheap. And because they don't have a shop, you can't buy them individually. So despite hearing yummy things about the Greenwich-based cupcakery, I've only just got around to trying them.

And I was so impressed. Perfect, perfect sponge (that'll be the free range eggs they use) and lovely little decorations. The frosting was very sweet though and I certainly felt the effects of the sugar for a little while. But they were yummy enough to shut me up for the three minutes it took me to eat one.

These cakes are perfect for a party, but unless you've got a very healthy appetite, you're going to have trouble munching through the 60 minimum you'll have to order. Still, if you're having a party and want something a little fancier than an M&C caterpillar cake, then Faircake is worth the effort.
