Bollocks to baking: Konditor & Cook

Yummy yummy yummy. That's what I think of the cake I bought from Konditor & Cook at the start of this week. I'd found myself just seconds away from the Chancery Lane branch and well, it would be rude not to pop in, wouldn't it?

They do savoury food here, as well as tasty cakes and yummy tea. So there's a few benches to perch on if you fancy staying in. But, I didn't. I skipped off with my chocolate hazelnut crumble cake thingy very pleased with myself. I almost snapped up a piece of yummy looking lemon cake on the way out too.

This was seriously good cake. I didn't find out until later that it was wheat-free. It was like some kind of yummy brownies cake thing, all covered in chocolate (and there was something secret and tasty in that chocolate, I'm just not sure what it was). It was about £2.75 a slice, and the slice was big enough for me to cut in two so I really got two pieces. No, of course I didn't share.

Konditor & Cook are sometimes overlooked, what with all the fancy cupcakeries popping up all over the place. They really shouldn't be. The cake here is wonderful, the staff are friendly and I'll be popping into the other branches across London. If you're sick of pretty little cupcakes and want some real cake, you should do the same.

  1. The chocolate and raspberry truffle tart is amazing. Also, the branch is really pretty and cosy. Looking forward to going back.

  2. It's not often I want to go back and try everything form a bakery. Usually I try one thing, and then move on to the next. But I'll be back to Konditor and Cook very very soon!

  3. I used to work near the Waterloo branch of K&C – I miss it horribly! It's amazing for lunches as well as cake.

  4. ooh I went there today and had cake with my boyfriend. They do good coffee too. So good, in fact, that I just realised I've forgotten to eat lunch. Ah well, cake for lunch it is then! (The other food looked yummy also).
