Cocktail Hour: Bloody Mary

When it comes to cocktails, few are more reviving than the Bloody Mary. In fact, if you're feeling a tad worse for wear, a Bloody Mary is the one drink that works in the 'hair of the dog' experiment. Enough gloopy tomato juice to soak up the excess booze from the night before, and a bit of a kick from the spices (and the vodka). The Bloody Mary is a wonderful concoction. One of the few cocktails you can get away with drinking in the morning as well, and that's always something to be celebrated.

You might want to tweak this recipe slightly. Either you'll like it spicy, or you won't (I'm a fan of the spice, but then I'm a filthy smoker). You could also leave out the vodka out if you fancied a virgin tipple.

You'll need:
  • 50ml vodka
  • 80ml tomato juice
  • Dash lemon juice
  • Dash Worcestershire sauce
  • Two drops Tabasco sauce
  • Salt
Make it!

Shake everything together, pour into a glass over ice. Watch your hangover disappear into the ether. Of course, you can serve it with a stick of celery if you want, but does anyone actually like celery?

  2. My favourite tipple! Go hell for leather with Salt and Pepper and throw in a shot of Sherry too for the ultimate BM. It's just Fabulous Daahling!
