There's always one drink, no matter how many hangovers it gives us, that we always forgive. Usually within 24 hours. The Domestic Sluts aren't adverse to the odd tipple of ten, but we all have our favourites (we also have the one we'll never ever touch again after that one fateful night, do tell us about those in the comments).
So in the name of erm... 'research', we thought we'd run a little spirits poll and get you guys to decide which is best. Of course, if you want to have a little drinky to help you decide, who are we to stop you?

It has to be a Mojito or a Moscow Mule for me and, of course, I'll drink responsibly!

A Mojito or my absolute fav, Capt Morgan spice rum, stoney tangawizi (zanzibar cloudy ginger beer)fresh lime and mint YUM!
ReplyDeleteI do like a Southern Comfort & lemonade but I've yet to find something that beats a Gin & Tonic.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely gin! Especially Hendricks and tonic with a slice of cucumber...
ReplyDeleteCherry brandy every time. Or Absolut Vanilla vodka. Or almost any spirit with ginger beer.
ReplyDeleteAllie, completely agree with you! Hendricks + tonic + cucumber = yum, yum, yum!
ReplyDeleteThough I voted for tequila (love me a tequila slammer) I'm also rather partial to Archers. It reminds me of being 18 and drinking it with diet coke and constantly having to make people (often virtual strangers) try it because they didn't believe it was drinkable, let alone AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing. Trust me.
I'm crazy for Caipirinha, so the spirit not included here in the poll is Brazil's national spirit Cachaça.. I am totally in love with this fantastic cocktail!
ReplyDeleteGotta be a cherry brandy and coke, yumyum
ReplyDeleteThere are teetotallers out here too - I'd have to say elderflower presse or something, me
ReplyDeleteWe know there are people who don't drink reading! But there are also veggies who don't mind when we write about steak!
ReplyDeleteAlso: GIN.
Jagermeister all the way!
ReplyDeleteGin Über Alles.
ReplyDeleteI don't drink spirits anymore - I think I've managed to make myself ill at some point with each of them=)
ReplyDeleteI like liqueurs like Tia Maria or Grand Marnier.
Well until I make myself ill with those too lol.
Archers and lemonade = summer.
ReplyDeleteBlack Russian (vodka, Tia Maria & coke) = winter.
Vodka for me. It in the first drink I ever drank, and it just goes so well in so many drinks.
ReplyDeleteGemma - I thought I was the only one who loved Archers and coke! It was my teen drink of choice.
ReplyDeleteAlso discovered apricot brandy over the weekend, and a curious spirit called aperol. Still have no idea what it is, but it's delish with apple and rhubarb juice.
Not to be argumentative, Siany, but there's a much higher percentage of meat-free dishes featured than there are alco-free drinks; that was my only point. It's bad enough being treated like a leper for not drinking in general company (I go out! I have fun! I just don't need alcohol to do it!) without being snarked at here for making what I think is a fair point.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't meant to be snarky. We know there are some posts we write that won't suit everyone, but we do write an awful lot about cocktails (including some non-alcoholic drinks). We're not treating you like a leper, we chose to do a poll on which spirit people prefer, so we can make sure we're covering the right things.
ReplyDeleteIf you want us to feature more booze free drinks, just ask instead of telling us off :-) We do listen!
Sloe gin. With coke. Or on its own, if there's no coke to hand.
ReplyDeleteCan I only choose one?! I vote vodka, being the slut of all spirits (it goes with everything) but can I also have a tequila chaser and a shot of bourbon when they turn the lights down low?
