Cocktail Hour: Gibson Martini

If you like your cocktails straight-up, a martini is definitely the way to go. But what if you're not a fan of the olive? The Gibson solves all those problems. Where the cocktail came from, people seem unsure. Was it simply an 'improvement' on the traditional martini (try both and see) or was the pickled onion used to detect which drink was water, rather than gin? Whichever story you prefer, here's the recipe:

You'll need:
  • 60ml gin
  • 10ml dry vermouth
  • Silverskin onion
Shake it!

Stir the gin and vermouth in a shaker with ice (don't shake). Strain into a martini glass and garnish with the onion. Sometimes simple really is best.
