Well, now you can recreate that overgrown welly look without the expense, alcohol abuse or the joy of camping that comes with festival going. The Rainy Day Garden is a cute ceramic boot that helps you get a bit festive with your herbs. The boot comes filled with peat pucks and seed packs. Use rain, or if there's none of that about (ha! this is Britain, of course there is!) just add water to expand the peat. Then pop the seeds in the peat and watch 'em grow.
The blue boot comes with seeds for mint while the yellow boot has chamomile and the green boot basil (the red is apparently strawberry but doesn't seem to be for sale...boo).
You can get them from Amazon for £5.90 for the basil and mint while the mint, inexplicably, costs £5.88. What a booty!

Hmm, it's a shame they use peat, that's a pretty terrible thing to do to the environment, it destroys one of our most precious, endangered, natural habitats. See this link if you want to know more from the Wildlife Trust:

ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out - I feel ashamed of my lack of awareness on the issue and plan on educating myself further about it. Perhaps the manufacturers can be persuaded to use a peat-free compost instead?
