Cocktail Hour: Espresso Martini

As much as I like gin (LOTS), I'm not a martini fan. I'm a complete martini wuss actually. I just think my drinks should come with a mixer, rather than an olive. An olive is not a mixer. But, I like girly versions of martinis. They still pack a punch, but they won't make me pass out on my friend's bathroom floor for an entire Sunday (yes, that was my last experience of a martini). And despite all the booze, hopefully this espresso martini won't render me unconcious after five minutes.

You'll need:
  • 25ml espresso coffee (the good stuff, don't you go mixing up a bit of Nescafe)
  • 50ml vodka
  • 25ml Kalhua
  • 25ml white creme de cacao
  • Coffee beans for garnish
Shake it!
  • Make sure you chill your martini glass with ice and water
  • And ice to a cocktail shaker and throw in the booze, then the espresso.
  • Shake it all up, strain into your chilled glass.
  • Garnish with a couple of coffee beans.

  1. There is a great Mar-tea-ni recipe in Nigella's Christmas book - uses chilled Earl Grey as the mixer!

  2. Ah brilliant. My love of coffee means I can survive by day with lattes and through the night with white Russians, so this makes a nice change.

I'm NOT an alcoholic. I AM addicted to coffee.
