Shoes are best when they come with a full back-story. I mean, technically these heels are lush purple suede lace-up brogues, made by Hobb's trendier sister label NW3, reduced to £65 from £179.
But really, they say, 'I'm a serious minded intellectual with a nice line in shoes, don't you know? I probably live in Hampstead with a 'partner', surrounded by his discarded bow ties, piles of books and a cat named after a Greek god. I certainly like cycling dangerously fast in a crushed velvet maxi skirt and a floppy hat. Most Tuesdays, I get up early to write a few chapters of my latest novel, fetch some flowers for the house, give a lecture on Victorian Sapphic poetry then roast a chicken before my friends come over. All this, and I still wear ACE heels.'
Awesome backstory. To me, they say "I live in Oxford with my lesbian life-partner and enjoy kicking squirrels." Maybe that's just me.
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely clever clog shoes.
ReplyDeleteYou made me do a bad thing :(
ReplyDeleteI love these so much I just bought a pair. I mean, who needs to eat when you have cute shoes?
I like them. I'm not sure about the studs on the front (I imagine they'll look better in real life), but I'd wear these with forest greens and wintery things. For impractical walks in the countryside with a handsome man and a giant dog.
ReplyDeleteThat's rubbish obviously. I'd wear them down the pub.
I'd definitely buy them if they came in green. Yes, I'm fussy.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't enough green shoes around. I only own two pairs of green shoes.
ReplyDelete*Runs off to find pretty green shoes*
ha ha ha! i like rachel's story better and siany's honesty
