Design Porn: Clocky Alarm Clock

Are you useless at getting out of bed in the morning?

Have you devised a "Cunning Plan" when it comes to the snooze button?

Do you sometimes turn off your alarm in your sleep, thereby ruining any chance of being punctual?

If you said yes to any of the above questions, then sigh no more! Clocky will save the day!

Who is Clocky, I hear you ask? THIS. IS. CLOCKY!!!

(not, fortunately, Sparta)

Clocky just happens to be the best alarm clock in the entire world, and therefore, the most annoying one. I discovered the brilliant/evil properties of this alarm clock when I first started having “overnighters” with the BF. He too, apparently, has waking-up issues.

Basically, Clocky’s appropriately obnoxious alarm will sound at your specified time. You press snooze, life goes on. The real genius of this wonder alarm happens the next time the alarm sounds. See those sturdy-looking wheels? Mhmm. Yes. Yes it does roll away from you. Yes it will leap off the shelf and continue to roll. Yes the alarm is still sounding. Yes it forces you to get out of bed, and yes, yes it will make you spend five minutes chasing it across your room to shut the damn thing off.

You will curse yourself for ever thinking this was a good purchase. But you’ll be awake, which we all know, is the main thing.

Clocky comes in almond, aqua and shiny shiny chrome. He (I like to think Clocky is a “he”, then I curse him curse him curse him!) has a hardwearing plastic body and ridiculous robust rubber wheels.

Clocky is so effective, that the BF and I lugged ours all the way from Australia. Mainly because it’s not cheap, at £24.95 from clickshop.com, more than I would generally pay, especially since most mobile phones these days have one built in.

But boy oh boy it is effective.

  1. Brilliant! Unfortunately, I have no room, and it wouldn't fit in with my decor. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  2. What's wrong with my current "hitting the alarm for two hours" plan? Hmmmm?

Also, Clocky is awesome. Even if I'm sure he's alive.

  3. So am I! He stares at me, with his little button eyes..........taunting me.

If he’s not alive, he was definitely sent here by the devil.

  4. And his little clock mouth laughing as you stub your toe and bang your elbow falling out of bed.

Evil...but oh so strangely cute. Definately must get my bf one of these as he was late AGAIN this morning and some how this was my fault...

  6. My boyfriend has one of these, works a treat. You can also use it as a cat toy... assuming your cat gets over the initial terror... which ours hasn't yet ;-)
