Bollocks to Baking: Gail's Bakery
I only found out about Gail's bakery last night. That's not Domestic Slut Gail (although she could open her own bakery, with all her cooking skills), Gail's Bakery is a small London chain specialising in artisan breads.
And the bread is nothing short of outstanding.
I was munching on it last night (in my perfume making class at Homemade London) and I can't remember the last time I had bread so tasty. I had a raisin and poppy seed roll and it was perfect. So perfect I've spent a large amount of time this morning looking for poppy seed bread recipes. They also do a potato and rosemary sourdough, which sounds fabulous and I absolutely will trek across London for that. Or, as far as Battersea which is probably my nearest branch. Can't wait to pop in and try more goodies.
We usually write about cakes and sweet things in Bollocks to Baking, and Gail's does those as well, but if you're going to pop in, please try the bread. It's fantastic.
There's branches of Gail's across London, and I'm hoping they'll expand across central and south East london so they're even closer to me.
Beautiful bread. Will def check it out next time I'm in London. x
ReplyDeleteDo! There's a certain pride about this place, they're very very good at their bread baking.
ReplyDeleteTry their cinnamon buns as well. Delicious! You have to be quick though...
ReplyDeleteOcado deliver their bread and some branches of Waitrose stock it too (or at least the one in Balham does) so that might help avoid the trek.
It is sold at Waitrose Canary Wharf. I can confirm that the sour dough potato and rosemary is amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh you ladies are full of happy news :-D
ReplyDeleteYou can order Gail's bread through Ocado, too (at least, in the south-east) - good for those of us outside London!
