Beta Fashion is a fabulous initiative. Actually, it's not unlike a silk scarf version of Threadless. Artists submit their designs each month, there's a competition and then the best scarves are sold for £35 each. Previous winners have studied at that fancypants art college Central St Martins, and one winner lives in the Himalayas. It's a fab little project, and you know what? The scarves are gorgeous.
This is my favourite. Who doesn't want a scarf with monkeys on it?
I chose this one! As much as I like monkeys, I need a bright blue pattern to stop me looking pasty. I love that the designs look lovely when they're all squished up as well.
The silk fabric is stunning, really soft. This butterfly print is really cute. As the designs change each month, they're limited edition which makes them a wee bit more special. I wonder if they'll start a monthly club for avid fans?
You can buy all the scarves from the Beta Fashion website, and they've also got a concession in the Topshop on Oxford Street in London. Only the cool kids have concessions there.
Now if someone could show me how I'm actually meant to wear the darn thing, I'll be a happy camper.
Awesome. I covet.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good idea to feature budding designers in a designer eboutique. This concept can be brought into a next level – to make the fashion ecommerce website a place to feature new designers, and give them a place to sell their designs. Once they win, allocate some ‘selling space’ in the ecommerce website. This is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI read this post earlier in 2013, while studying illustration, and decided to enter. My design was selected and I just saw it for sale for the first time! I'M SO EXCITED! Thank you Domestic Sluts, you've been instrumental in my fledgling new career! http://www.betafashion.com/p-300-nihon-deco.aspx
