If you're anon your entry won't count and if you enter more than once, we'll discount all of your entries (yes, we do check). We're not allowed to enter our own competitions, but Siany is looking forward to going home to the countryside so she can have tipsy snowball fights with her mum on Christmas eve.
With my yummy hubbie - I've just got a new job and I'm away from home a lot now. So it's gonna be lovely to have some snuggle time with him. Also thanks for this wonderful column, it makes my day checking for what you've written. I hope you all have a wonderful festive time.
ReplyDeleteWe are off to MiLs house with tonnes of other family and presents - trying to make sure we don't dwell on FiL's death last month
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending Christmas with family in Cambridge. We celebrate Polish Christmas (Wigilia) on Christmas eve with a 5 course meal and then have a traditional English Christmas on Christmas Day...I.can't.wait!
ReplyDeleteooo, enter me please!
ReplyDelete[email protected]
Spending Christmas at home with husband and 3 girls (6yrs and under). Our daughter is 4yrs on Christmas Eve and hubby turns 35 yrs on Boxing Day so it will be very busy and lots of cake baking for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm Spending Christmas with my Ginger Bf's Family.
ReplyDeleteHis Grandmother cooks for the 5 thousand and her christmas dinner is always the one thing i look forward to at Christmas. *noms*
We will be snuggling down together, just me, my wonderful husband and our 3 boys and 3 girls. No going out, no distractions, just our lovely family having a magical day together
ReplyDeleteI am planning to spend the Christmas in my snuggly pyjamas on the sofa with Dog and Husband, eating chocolate and watching Breakfast at Tiffanys.
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas in North Yorkshire, a proper big-family day. The veg will be home grown (by my dad), the Christmas cake made by my Great Auntie Hazel, the pudding made by my mum & the noise supplied by my nieces & nephew! A special day indeed :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I would LOVE to win this. For the record, I am entertaining my parents over Christmas for the first time EVER! I wonder if it is anything to do with the fact I have a rather cute baby son these days ;-)
ReplyDeleteHowever... if I won these prizes, I could leave them with the hamper AND the baby, don the beautiful dress and take my boyfriend out for a well deserved posh dinner! :-)
Going home to my family in Oxfordshire on the 22nd. As much as I love London, I adore going to the countryside for Christmas, decorating the house with holly from the garden, roasting chestnuts on the fire etc.But by boxing day invariably cant stand it anymore so coming back to London to be with boyfriend and his family.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a giveaway! I'll be spending christmas with my parents back in Norfolk and I can't wait, we normally visit all the family on christmas eve and then have a fun day just us on christmas day :)

with my wonderful partner and my children at home this year doing as we please. Handmade with love Christmas :) x
ReplyDeleteI'm travelling up north (weather permitting!) to spend Christmas with my boyfriend's family as my family is about 5,000 miles away! Should be cold, snowy and interesting, I hope. ;)
ReplyDeleteSpending Christmas at home in Manchester, with dh, 3 dd's (under 5), a mo-in-law, 2 bro-in-laws, a dad, a sister, cousin and her kids. 13 of us drinking wine and hopefully eating lots of yummy food. Followed by more drinking and party games!
ReplyDeleteGoing home to Hampshire to spend it with the family (snow dependant of course!)
ReplyDeleteI liked your facebook page and RT on twitter!

My partner and I are going to spend our Christmas by ourselves in London, away from the usual stress of being with families at Christmas. We're going to have some very nice food (not cooked by either of our mothers!), have a walk in one of the parks next to all of the other people (in London, no one acknowledges each other even on Christmas day - it's brilliant!) and catch Dr Who in the evening when we start on the red wine. We love our Christmases by ourselves so much!

ReplyDeleteFor the first time since 2002 I am spending Christmas with both my Mum and my Brother. I have not been able to travel for Christmas for the last 7 years due to dog related commitments so my poor Mum has drive from bro's house to mine ON CHRISTMAS MORNING so she could still spend the day with both of her children. As my lovely dog sadly passed away in September I am going to travel down to the wilds of Bedfordshire for it.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, want, want, want! : ) Christmas this year will be spent alternating between my family, my fiancée's family, and public transport! Good luck to everyone who enters and Merry Christmas. SJ Pusey, Bristol. x
ReplyDeleteThis is the first year I am spending Christmas away from my family and with my boyfriend and his family instead. I am nervous though as I have taken on the challenge of making the cranberry sauce to bring a little bit of my family Christmas with me! I know Christmas wont be the same without the certain traditions of a normal Christmas day but I am hoping that I'll be able to wear my santa hat and tuck in to that turkey...with a huge dollop of (what i hope to be delicious) cranberry sauce!
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas in my first home with my boyfriend (insert Awww's!!). Hopefully we won't kill each other (although him banning me from using tinsel everywhere may cause a tiff!) and Santa will remember I've moved house and drop me off something lovely!
ReplyDeletethis is the best present ever! I would so love to win this, pretty please :)
ReplyDeleteI am spending Christmas in Austria, with my parents, my younger sister and my grandmother. We have the actual celebration on the 24th in the evening, and in Austria we don't have a Santa Claus but 'Christkind' which is basically a baby Jesus who brings the presents. We usually try to sing Christmas songs, but none of us can sing and we don't know the lyrics, so fortunately the eating and drinking starts soon. We don;t have stockings to be filled, this is somehow sad.
Ooh wow, well hopefully I'll be spending Christmas surrounded by all these wonderful goodies!!!
ReplyDeleteFamily are coming to stay with us this Christmas which is lovely as we live miles away, it means we can have some wonderful company and all muck in together, and my husband and I will get some time together as we will have babysitters now our family are with us - yipee! Merry Christmas to everyone!

Hi I'm Claire, @jobfinch...This year I am unfortunately spending it alone :-( My OH is overseas in Abu Dhabi visiting his family and I couldnt get the time off work! I will be snuggled up under a big blanket loving all the Christmas films. Still - I will be making a lovely Christmassy dinner with all the trimmings!!
ReplyDeleteSpending it with my fam fam. Offered to make christmas dinner so I will probably be at the bottom of a very large glass of wine whilst burning the roast potatoes. Looking forward to it! Hope my parents know what they have let themselves in for.
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas with my fiance's family. We got engaged last night but we're waiting to announce it to the family over dinner as everyone will be together at the same time. Hope I can wait that long I really want to tell everyone! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMy first married Christmas, I'll be spending it with my hubby and our families by the sea in Devon.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a prize!
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending Christmas Eve walking on the beach, then in our local pub (gorgeous http://www.thecumberlandarms.co.uk/). Christmas I'll be with my other half, getting giddy excited about presents and eating, cooking, eating, and sitting with loose-waisted trousers watching all the Christmas specials on TV and playing board games. Cannot wait!
We'll be at home, church (as my hubby is a church musician), and then having Christmas dinner with two other families who work with my husband, which we have done for the last 2 years and makes it a really festive gathering. We'll be about 17 people in total!
ReplyDeleteI will spending Christmas at my parents, eating too much and snoring in front of the TV. The simplest traditions are the best :o)
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas Day with half of my family and Boxing Day with the other half (the joys of divorced parents!). We alternate it each year.
ReplyDeleteThe shenanigans start on Christmas Eve. We might catch Midnight Mass/Evening Service at the local Church - it so lovely to sing Christmas Carols in the park old Church. We then get my little sisters to bed after leaving out treats for Santa and Rudolph. We then sprinkle glitter around my Step-Dad's slippers to leave footprints by the fireplace (I used to love this when I was little) and leave their pressies under the tree.
On Christmas Day morning we will be dragged from our slumber by the little ones downstairs to see if 'HE' came. Their squeals of excitement is possibly the best moment of the day. As we sleepily snuggly up on the sofa's in our jimjams the kiddies unwrap their presents and pass the others around. At this point I normally have half a Terrys Chocolate Orange in my gob as my Mum always puts one in the end of our stockings.
Then I will trundle off to the kitchen to start my cookathon - I am the cook in the family. We will have Smoked Salmon, Scrambled Eggs and Sauteed Spinach for breakfast, washed down with a glass of Champers.
I will then enlist the assistance of my brother and everyone else is shoved out the kitchen. The two of us will blare out Christmas songs on the stereo and make up geeky dances while chopping the carrots. This is possibly my second favourite part of the day.
At around 2ish I manage to get dinner on the table and the cracker pulling ensues. The Christmas dinner is scoffed and we spend the rest of the day rolling around like fat little piggies, playing Charades or Articulate.
The following day we will pelt it down the M40 to my Dads and a similar routine will occur. This time with around 30 members of family!
It is also my first Christmas with my boyfriend, so I am looking forward to lots of cuddles. We are too broke to buy Christmas this year so we agreed on hugs being the best pressie we could get!
Phew, that was quite a detailed answer, yes?
Please, please, please can I win this amazing, awesome, splendiferous prize? All my limbs are crossed for this one!
Merry Christmas.
x
Hello! What a completely awesome prize - so many fabulous goodies.
ReplyDeleteThis Christmas is going to both full on and quiet for me - we're entertaining on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day but each day, we're just having a very small gathering of 'nearest and dearest'. On Christams Eve we're spending the afternoon with my Grandpops, sipping sherry and telling stories from yesteryear (he will be anyway) and then Christmas Day, my husband and I are having my Mum round - just the three of us. We'll go walking with the pooch, snuggle in front of the fire with Prosecco and tuck in to a roast of some description. Boxing Day we're having my husband's brother, wife and two little girls round for a big fish pie and lots of games (mainly sticking and gluing left over packaging - that seems to be the craft of the moment I'm told!).
Then, with a whole week off work, we will be doing pretty much zilch - yay for that!
Hope you all have a jolly Christmas time too.
Katy x
I'll be spending Christmas with my lovely family in East Yorkshire, after 3 months away in Bristol; not freaking out about turning 20 and plucking up the courage to tell the boy I like how I feel about him...
ReplyDeleteI will be spending christmas with my boyfriend's family who have also kindly invited my mum and sister as my dad passed away last year so we are starting a new christmas tradition. We will be eating, drinking and playing board games. I will be providing the starter as I am making mushroom and chestnut soup x I can't wait xxx [email protected]
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas with my fiance's family, as mine are on the other side of the world. However, I'm bringing a little bit of Australia with me in the form of an old friend who is also a Christmas orphan in another country. Will try and get the Australian Christmas spirit together with a BBQ and some white wine...
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending Christmas with all my family; parents, sisters, bros-in-law, nieces, nephew, gorgeous fiancé and dog.
ReplyDeleteAnd in case the house wasn't too small already we have also adopted an Australian orphan who can't be with his own family this Christmas. He has no idea what he is in for!
I think I deserve this prize because I have slept 14.5 hours since sunday, whilst looking after three wonderful kids (singlehandedly I might add) who have been so patient, and also trying to keep my man (who I haven't seen for a month) happy.
ReplyDelete"why?" I hear you ask. Well I set up a new business in April, and this is my first christmas working for myself, I have soooo many print orders to get to customers (i'm a photographer) before christmas eve and I intend on spending my christmas with the man of my dreams and my wonderful children doing absolutely nothing but drink wine, eat chocolate and reflect on how the hell I got through these past two weeks.
I will be spending Christmas at home, just with Mum, Dad and My sister (for the first time since about 2000). Looking forward to a good old fashioned family Christmas, with added fizz now that we girls are old enough to indulge.
ReplyDeleteBeen a tough year for Sis, and for me with my six month headache, so it will be good to chill out and not worry about anything at all. Yay for Christmas!
I will be spending Xmas with my family. You have to, don't you? Family are coming from all over for Xmas, furthest is from New Zealand! My mum is doing a turkey and two geese. I'm looking forward to getting nicely drunk and fall asleep after dinner. It's going to feel so good.
ReplyDeleteAll love, Clare from Belfast x
My Christmas is going to be a bit hectic... My new boyfriend (of 2 months) and I are staying at my parents house on Christmas Eve with my 18 month old daughter. His family are Jehovas Witnesses so he's pretty excited about having an actual Christmas! Then we've got the usual pressie opening with the whole family in the morning, scrambled eggs and bucks fizz for breakfast, roast lunch at about 1.30ish... Then sadly I have to drop my little girl with her Dad at about 3pm :o( Still... Every cloud has a silver lining, I think I'll be getting a few friends round to mine in the evening for a LOT of lovely christmas drinks and nibbles! I can't wait, it's going to be a good one for sure!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas with my lovely family and then with my lovely boyfriend soon after. It's our first Christmas together so although we're not spending Christmas Day together, we will have our own Christmas Day when we're together again. Can't wait. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWill be taking my Mum away for a well earned rest after a traumatic last few years to The UAE to see my daughter and her family, feeling very guilty as my Polish house mate will be home alone this Christmas, if I could win these pressies for her it would make her Christmas extra special. x
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to getting a heck of a lot of sleep in and a chance to have some fun in the snow that I missed last week because I had to work!
ReplyDeleteI'm helping to cook the dinner this year so I shall be enjoying the spoils of that and falling asleep in a turkey coma in front of the TV... can't wait!
Have a great Christmas!
I'll be spending the day with my son and my Mum, then LO is off to Dads and I'll be finishing my Christmas day on a night shift at Sheffield Childrens Hospital, where I work on the Intensive Care Unit.
ReplyDeleteAlways makes me remember how lucky I am to have a healthy family.
We'll be dashing back and forth between my family and the hubbie's family, eating, drinking and dishing out pressies at every house!
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas with my family, trying to resist the urge to throw turkey at them. And sprouts.
ReplyDeleteAt home, surrounded by chocolate and christmas tv, hopefully. with midday cocktails at the neighbours (it was instituted to cover the turkey roasting time - get tiddly, by the time you're back it should be cooked and you should be sloshed enough you don't care if it's burnt). First up, we have to feed the entire neighbourhood on sunday pre-xmas...
ReplyDeleteSpending it with the family, mostly doing all the things we have done very year since forever- tree, check; turkey, check; stockings, check!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending my Christmas with my Boyfriend and our bunny rabbit (Luna. Then my parents are travelling down for Christmas lunch made by me with assistance from Matt. Im planning on making it really special, as all had a hard year. So lots of food and a nice walk on Cannock Chase, hopefully dusted with snow!
ReplyDeleteWould love to be spending Christmas with my new boyfriend but can't as we both have long standing family commitments. It has taken us a long time to get together as things kept coming between us so to make our first Christmas together special we have hired a cottage in Nrfolk for the weekend. We are going to have a little Christmas just for two of us with decorations and a fullistmas Dinner on Sunday. Mulled wine, stockings and hopefully snow. I can't wait :-))
ReplyDeleteChristmas Eve with friends and their 2 year old, Christmas day with the family in Wales, and Boxing day back in London with friends - should be great!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Emyr
I'll be spending xmas with my parents in Cornwall. A peaceful break from the London rat race. My dad loves xmas so much it's like having my very own Father Christmas! :)
ReplyDeleteI am spending Christmas in the way we all should... From a warm home, slightly tipsy for the whole duration in a pretty outfit surrounded by friends, family and a selection cheeses.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait! x
My boyfriend and I are having our first grown-up Christmas without parents this year! We plan to breakfast on smoked salmon with Champagne and then make Beef Wellington for dinner. Bliss <3
ReplyDeleteChristmas for me is spent driving around from house to house visiting various arms of the family, eating far too much Xmas food and watching Xmas specials in the evening with a big glass of Baileys.
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas with my lovely hubby, teenage children and our two dogs. Hubby will be mellow, having started on the Christmas booze. The kids will be upstairs moaning or bragging about their presents on Facebook. One dog will be eating the wrapping paper; the other dog will be rolling his eyes at the dog eating the wrapping paper.
ReplyDeleteI will alternately be cooking or lolling about on the sofa eating chocolate.
Can't wait!
We're spending Christmas in Wales with the boyfriend's family: his mum, his auntie, his cousin and her partner and their two kids. This will be our 7th Christmas together, and out of those 7, we've spent 5 happy Christmases in Wales. We do the usual things - eat, drink, and be merry!
ReplyDeleteI'll be staying with my family as usual, but for the first time we're celebrating on Christmas Eve as well as Christmas Day. My sister's boyfriend is coming to stay and as he's Finnish, we'll be having a traditional Finnish Christmas meal on the 24th followed by our traditional British Christmas on the 25th! Not quite sure about the amount of pickled herring that might be involved, but it's going to be fun!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas in Wigan - this is as far away from home (Auckland NZ) as you can sadly get at this time of the year but it's with my soon to be in-laws and I'm hoping for a pretty white Christmas day. Will be thinking of my great family in the sun down "south" but enjoying being all wrapped up watching the snow fall and great Christmas delights like It's a Wonderful Life and The Railway Children. :)
ReplyDeleteMEEEEEEEP!!!! How exciting, I am desperate to win!
ReplyDeleteChristmas morning will include a sleep-in, then smoked salmon bagels and orange juice for breakfast, then cups of tea, music and present opening. After that a walk on Hampstead Heath, then back home to watch a Christmas film, followed by a humungous dinner (probably pheasant, as it is one of the few birds that will fit in our tiny freezer).
My family are coming here (snow willing!) and I will attempt Xmas dinner...
ReplyDeleteChristmas for us starts with my son's birthday on 23rd. We'll be having the day at home, then Christmas eve just us. Christmas day off to my husband's parents with all the presents that Santa brings - lovely times watching the children opening their presents and eating Grandma's lovely cooking. Boxing day we head off to my parents for what really feels like Christmas mark 2 when the children open a 2nd set of presents! It's all about the children really - I love seeing their happy faces amid the wrapping paper! :)
ReplyDeleteWe're having the most relaxing Christmas ever - a movie marathon of all our childhood favourite Christmas films(and some new classics - hello, Elf!), some amazing Christmassy food and perhaps a glass of wine or two. With no family drama, no travelling and no stress. It's going to be amazing.
ReplyDeleteFirst Christmas for me without my boy who's with his Dad, so I although will be sad, shall make up for it by eating mince pies under the covers with my boyfriend. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas at home with my husband and kids, missing my family in Australia. Unfortuantely, the in laws are no substitute!
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas :D
Ooh Lovely! Well, on Christmas day I'll be driving through the snow (please!) from Bristol to Lancashire with my splendid man to spend a couple of days with my family. My dad dresses up in a home-made man sized Christmas tree outfit, and my mum will forget where she's hidden the presents. Grandads and Daft Aunties will also be present.
ReplyDeleteThis year will be extra lovely, as we'll be able to look through my gorgeous sister's wedding photos; they're tying the knot this Sunday in Staffordshire.
Christmas means home, home-made and family. And I can't wait... ! x
Christmas eve will be spent remembering the family members we lost this year and then christmas day will be spent celebrating with my family AND my other half. The first year I get both in one place. So so so excited!
ReplyDeleteOoooooooh count me in please! We aren't travelling around this year and it will be a cosy Christmas for me, hubby and our two girls. We will be doing lots of relaxing (me especially as hubby cooks!) and watching of bad TV!
ReplyDeleteI'll be with my family and my lovely boyfriend, eating, drinking and opening pressies over a late-morning glass of sherry. Then we'll go for a walk in our village, get some fresh air and say hi to a few people, and come home to watch whatever kids' film is on the tv. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI'm hopefully (weather permitting!) flying up to Aberdeen to stay with my parents. For the first year ever we're not at home on Christmas Day however - my sister has moved into a house in the middle of nowhere with her boyfriend and is hosting us. I'm just hoping that her cooking has improved...
ReplyDeleteMy sister and her husband and little girl (Kaitlin, age 2) will be hosting their first ever Christmas day in their lovely new home and my husband and I and our two little ones (Ellie - 5 and Lewis 3) will be going to spend the day with them. My chidren adore arts and crafts and so we have made two very special Christmas 2010 aprons for our hosts with green handprint Christmas trees on them with all three of the children's handprints!! Aww!! xx
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to a cheerful day at home with my family. We have a jigsaw, some after eights and we're ready for Santa. Bring it on!
ReplyDeleteProvided the airports are open after the snow predicted for this weekend, I'm off to New Zealand to spend Christmas in the sun with my parents.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying our first Christmas in Yorkshire as 'Team Kell' ie minus errant husband :) Looking forward, despite my mother joining us for the duration, I am going to enjoy the day 'my' way for the first time ever, and can't wait, as usual to see the kids faces :) will be singing with the Wii all evening whilst drinking bubbles and aiming not to end up with a mascara streaked face whilst I wail to 'All By Myselllllllf'
ReplyDeleteMy post didn't appear for some reason so here is take two! Last year I worked the entire Xmas period as I'm a nurse but this year I have Xmas day off, yippee! Both my fiancé and my mother work at the same hospital but we have been very lucky as, with my little brother, we are all off together! Our day will include lots of yummy food, cheesy films, snowballs and board games galore.
ReplyDeleteOn Boxing Day, I'll be taking the dog for a trip to the beach with some of my closest friends for a crazy beach walk while the dog goes mad (she loves chasing waves and eating seaweed) before going back to work in the afternoon for some typical NHS antics! Good times :) happy Xmas to everyone :)
I shall be going home to Dover from London after my first term at university...I've already wrapped all my presents (brown paper and wool pom poms) but I'm not looking forward to lugging a holly tree home for my Dad.
ReplyDeleteBefore Christmas, I've promised my little brother I'd take him shopping, so that'll mean heading to Canterbury for some semblance of decent shops (I'm having withdrawal symptoms already.)
This is only the second Christmas that my Mama feels comfortable with me drinking; so I'll be making cocktails with ''real'' alcohol instead of Sainsburys Basics. Merry Christmas!!!
We're spending it for the first time as a foursome without extended family and the formalities that entails in our pyjamas doing bah humbugger all except eating, drinking and being merry! :)
ReplyDeleteFirst Christmas in aaages where it's going to be truely self-indulgent. Me and hubby usually end up somewhere remote with famiily and, as we rely on public transport, cabin fever usually sets in at about 5pm on Christmas day, and we're stuck until at least the 27th! This year we're staying at home watching tv and drinking mulled wine while wearing pjs and wooly socks. Relatives are totally welcome to come to us for turkey sandwiches and home-made mince pies!
ReplyDeleteIf the snow doesn't trap us in London, myself and boyfriend will be at my parents in North Wales - if it's snowy up there, hoping for some nice long walks along the valleys and sea front, but won't be attempting any mountains, don't want to have to be rescued by the local emergency services (i.e. Prince William and his RAF crew at Valley).
ReplyDeleteApart from fresh air, walks and views of snow-capped mountains, there will be lots of Scrabble and other board games, and the Christmas Doctor Who of course.
My level of domestic sluttery at Christmas usually extends to making mince pies with my mum on Christmas Eve, and helping prepare the vegetables and other basic tasks, but she usually shooes anyone else out of the kitchen when she's in full domestic goddess/tyrant mode - everyone else better keep clear!
I'm spending Christmas with my hubby and 3 children as we always do each year, we lock the door, shut the curtains and play with the kids toys and no one ever disturbs us!
ReplyDeleteWe've got about 30 members of family descending, including 3 dogs, ranging from ages 9-91 (the people not the dogs). There will be fights, sing songs and lots of real ale.
ReplyDeletehopefully playing in the snow with my niece. come on snow...don't let me down.
ReplyDeleteSpending it with the noisiest family in the world, and I wouldn't change it for anything.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a prize!
ReplyDeleteI am spending Christmas with my Mum this year. She was very very poorly last year and I pledged to spend all special occasions with her this year.
I can't wait, nothing like Mum's Christmas dinner and monopoly with the family! Its going to be so much fun!
At my mum's in a small house in a village near Hull with my mum, step dad, three brothers, two sisters, their dog and their five chickens, and my husband, who will spend a good proportion of the day outside smoking and trying to avoid the racket and general mayhem.
ReplyDeleteMy sister will drive us from her's to my mum's in our pajamas at about 7 am were we will be greeted with chocolates and sloe gin. Everyone will rip open their presents and swap the obvious labelling mistakes my mum will have made whilst wrapping everything at 11pm the night before after one to many glasses of Baileys.
We'll all start 'helping' cook lunch and the ones who don't will play with the youngest sibling's toys because they're always the most fun presents. Lego anyone?
Then we'll have dinner, when at least one person will spill their wine in at least one other person's food and we'll all declare ourselves stuffed but still sit at the table picking at roast potatoes.
Generally from then on we'll argue about who gets to sit on the sofa or nearest the fire then generally yell conversations over each other.
The perfect end to a lovely day? Singstar! Only there will be no real competion because everyone will be singing so loud the microphone won't know what to do :D
we'll be doing the christmas family rounds, trying to fit everyone in and I'll be eating as much chestnut stuffing as I can!
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas will involve lots of playing with toys and the sharing of wonderful memories. We lost both our parents this year to cancer and it's going to be a difficult one to put it lightly but I know that spending it with my family, in particular Connie (3) and Flynn (5) will make it special and their excitement will be infectious! I'm spending the day with my brother, sister-in-law, their 2 wonderful kids as well as my sister and my beautiful fiancee, who has helped me make it through this year.
ReplyDeleteThis year, I am spending Christmas at Dad's new house with my husband, Mum, little sister and brother, and our collection of dogs! Hoping to enjoy a full Christmas dinner - I'm struggling to eat anything but toast at the moment, because little person (currently the size of a lime!) is keeping me glued to the big, white telephone...
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas with my husband at home. Don't have to visit the in laws until the new year! I'll be making lots of food to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending christmas at home with my 2 children. We have our christmas/boxing day planned...total hibernation, lots of lovely food, chocolate, Baileys for me,hot chocolate for the kids, fleece blankets, christmas dvds...bliss.
ReplyDeleteWhat a give away!.. hopefully I'll be spending Christmas bug and virus free!... cough, splutter, sneeze..............
ReplyDeleteI am spending a quiet Christmas with just me and my hubby, as we live the opposite end of the country from our families and we've got snow on snow on snow.
ReplyDeleteSpending Xmas with my husband, parents and sister and her fiance - for lots of food and drink and then Boxing Day at my in-laws for more food and drink!
ReplyDeleteWe will be hosting 18 on Christmas Day for Turkeys(!) and all the trimmings. We are so looking forward to having cousins, Aunties, Uncles and Grandparent together on the day. We've never managed it before so it will be very special.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss my parents though, who will be staying in Ireland this year. They braved a ferry and a 9 hour drive through blizzards to get to us last year! Understandably. they won't be trying that again this Christmas. We hope to see them in the New Year and celebrate a second Christmas with them then!
In the meantime, I am Cinderella, painting the hall to get it looking nice for our guests. So, hair covered in paint, battered finger nails, cancelled shopping trips and frayed nerves for now but it'll be worth it come the day! All we need now is lots of snow!!
Merry Christmas to all the Domestic Sluts!

After the chaos of gift opening we'll have a huge fry up, then after a lazy morning well take a walk to the park with all our winter woolies to stay snug to burn some energy then go home to have hot chocolate and make a start on Christmas dinner. It's just the three of us so it's super snug and special!
My hubby and I started a new business this year so have been working 6 days a week most weeks all year, and 7 days (&nights) a week since the beginning of December. Christmas Day will be our first day off in the month so we will be spending the day spoiling our children and no doubt having a few glasses of wine and over-indulding. With a 3yr old and a 7yr old I doubt we'll get a lie in, but really looking forward (in a slightly warped way) to being woken ridiculously early by over excited children.
ReplyDeleteHi, I tried to post this already but I don't think it worked as can't find my original comment- so I hope I've not accidentally posted twice!
ReplyDeleteI'm going home for Christmas Eve/Day and then heading to my Boyfriend's parents on boxing day to play Bingo! Don't ask...
I've tweeted and facebooked! It's very exciting!
My husband and I are going to be heading to my parents for Christmas – opening presents in pyjamas in the morning with my sister and her boyfriend who are coming up late on Christmas eve, and then an ENOURMOUS Christmas dinner with us six, my aunt, my aunt’s neighbour and probably my grandma too. At this rate we may even bring our cats, hehe. Then there will be much napping and followed by more cheese (because by that point we may have stopped hurting from eating so much, so we’ll need to top up) and some wine - and then Boxing day will be chilling in pyjamas again and my favourite bit of Christmas feasting – bubble and squeak with leftover meat and sometimes a ham - before heading home!
ReplyDeleteat home in our matching christmas pj's and hats.....dinner then pressies...then next day its a walk to to the beach for the boxing day swim!!!
ReplyDeletemerry christmas on and all!!! x x x x x
I will be spending it with my husband, our 2 kids, their grandparents, our brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and whoever else turns up on the day (usually about 15 of us around the table)! New pjs for everyone on Christmas Eve, after a drunken session of peeling chestnuts and tracking Santa on the Norad website: http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html. Christmas day is a breakfast of Bellinis, smoked salmon and scrambled egg, then goose, rib of beef, chestnut stuffing and a Nigella-recipe Christmas pudding for dinner, followed by silence for the Dr Who Christmas Special broken only by snoring from the older members of the party. Bring it on, snow or not!
ReplyDeletePresents - church - roast beef - presents - Queens Speech (of course) - sleep - presents - wine - sleep. Hurrah!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing prize!
ReplyDeleteWe're having a relatively quiet Christmas this yea -just my, husband and kids, plus my parents on Christmas day.
Christmas is small this year, just my mum, little brother and me (older brother with gf, Dad with foreign family). It's the first year my brothers and I won't be together for our stocking opening traditions. I guess we're growing up.
ReplyDeleteOn Christmas morning I shall be opening my eyes on my Hunkeydory Home cushion, hungover from drinking all my Naked Wine from Bodie and Fou glasses and still wearing my Fever dress. By the light of the Phillips wakeup light I shall be able to Admire the Mr Yen paper cut enticing me downstairs to breakfast on Unearthed goodies and black tea with my Dutch By Design tea set. Later on I'll open my presents of Lisa Stickley and VandA paraphernalia under my pre-decorated Christmas tree! None of this would be possible without the fantastic Domestic Sluts!
ReplyDeleteI'm spending Christmas with my lovely Mum, something I don't get to do every year, so I'm really looking forward to it. An open fire, choccie biccies, new pyjamas and a big Baileys in front of Christmas TV, bliss :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic bundle of prizes, it will make somebody's Christmas very special (fingers crossed it might be MINE!)
ReplyDeleteI'll be at home for Christmas with the whole family descending - both daughters and their husbands, my little granddaughter and my brother in law, as well as me and my husband. So an awful lot of food will be consumed - I've been cooking and freezing goodies for weeks!
Assoon as I've posted this I'll give you a tweet @compergrapevine
I'm going to Ireland to see my family for the first time since I moved to London!
ReplyDeleteWe all get up early [usually me first]. We have Crunchy Nut Cornflakes for breakfast... a weird tradition of dad's.
Later on the neighbours come over for a drink and their little kids excitedly show us what Santa brought to them. It's so cute!
Then my nana comes to us for her dinner. We nap, drink, eat, nap.
Finally, we go to a neighbours house later that night for the annual singalong and drinks.
It's my favourite day of the entire year and has been the same since I was six. It's perfect.
All the usual jazz, but minus my middle sis and hubby who will be in Australia with her in-laws
ReplyDelete:(
Although I suppose that leaves more pigs-in-blankets for me!!
We'll be spending Christmas cuddled up to our lovely dog. She's getting on a bit and appreciates a warm fire and some quality sofa time!
ReplyDeleteIt's my baby's first Christmas so we're spending it at home. It will obviously be a really special one :)
ReplyDeleteWell the plan is to go to Belfast to spend Christmas with my mum and dad. I have my fingers crossed that it does not snow and stop our flights from leaving. They were meant to be coming over for my sons birthday at the end of November but this was stopped due to snow :( So hopefully all will be ok.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway, going to tweet. I'm @ali991 on twitter
I'm going to my parent's house for Christmas. There's no place in the world i'd rather be. Just me, my sister and my parents.
ReplyDeleteThey live in an old converted church by a loch in the middle of the Scottish Borders. When it snows, it feels like you're in a castle - its very idyllic and magical! (plus have you ever tried a hot tub in the snow? :) )
oops! forgot to say... I've retweeted under @theamorousprawn on Twitter. I've clearly sampled far too much festive spirit already this morning!
ReplyDeletewith my husband and my children at home this year
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending Christmas trying to remember that Christmas CAN be good, after the last two decidedly dodgy ones!
ReplyDeleteThat, and I'll be teaching my niece how to say 'Ho Ho Ho' on her first Christmas.
Christmas spent visiting family in Lincoln and sitting in front of roaring log fire at home whilst watching snow flakes falling out of sky
ReplyDeleteIts my birthday on Christmas Eve, so there'll be lots of celebrating and general over-eating, watching the Muppet Christmas Carol and remembering when I thought it was the greatest film ever as a kid (still ranks in the top 5), and having the traditional one or two family disagreements about when the turkey goes in the oven :)
ReplyDeleteChristmas eve shall as ever be spent with all my old friends who have come back into town for the holidays with many drinks and much karaoke. Christmas morning I shall then be awoken by my mother and will fend off the hangover with a bucks fizz whilst opening presents in my jammies with ma and pa, then it's time for the almighty cooked breakfast. Will then go and visit/exchange presents with grandparents, then it's home to walk the dogs to the pub where we meet family friends (we eschew the traditional christmas lunch in favour of a pint or 2 and a packet of peanuts. Then it's home to get changed into our finery, and over to our friends' house for christmas dinner, followed by doctor who, then a nap, then out come the cheese and biscuits and the g&ts start flowing! At some point we stagger home to sleep.
ReplyDeleteA packed itinerary of festive fun!
I'll be spending the morning at OH's mum's, the afternoon visiting my Godson then late afternoon with my mum and sister for xmas dinner - I need a lie down thinking about it! x
ReplyDelete^ Also forgot to say - I'm Laura! You can see all that on my blog or @LaRainbow on Twitter. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy Mum, Brother and I are zooming off to New York on Sunday to enjoy a magical Christmas with an American twist! :)
ReplyDeleteWe are spending Christmas with my family this year! Woohoo I am so excited! Get to do our traditions instead of hubby's weird ones, lol.
ReplyDeleteI have RTd (@justforcomps)
I have commented on your FB wall (Rhoda Kellar)
Blimey, I wasn't expecting that!
ReplyDeleteThis merits a wee poem I think:
On Christmas eve
I travel to Banbury
And if I'm really lucky
You will have bestowed me
With a mountain of gifts
I can add to my own
To share with my lovely
Cooking the ** Best**dinner in town
Whoever is lucky enough to win I hope they enjoy : ) I've also posted on Facebook under Yasmin Selena, thanks for such an unexpected but amazing giveaway. x x
([email protected])
Up in the highlands by a log fire in the snow with my auntie and her amazing stoneware collection. Snow permitting!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending a White Christmas cosied up with my family up in Scotland. I will be spending Christmas feeling enormous gratitude for all the friends, colleagues and family that I have and all the things that 2010 has brought. I will be spending Christmas looking forward to all the things 2011 has to bring!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long tough year, but thats no reason not to enjoy Christmas.
ReplyDeleteIt's for the kids and they love it! And we are all big kids at heart.
It's about family and friends, eating and drinking and making festive cheer.
Games and laughter will ring through the house whilst we try to ensure that the spirit of Christmas lasts the weekend before we are back to work.
Merry Christmas everyone and peace and happiness for the new year xxx
Nice quiet family christmas at my parents house, good food and company. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm such a big kid; I still get ridiculously excited each year. This year, myself and my boyfriend will be heading down on the train on Christmas Eve and cramming into the village pub with my parents, friends, and all the regulars who I've been to school with / worked with (or for!) at some point in my life.
ReplyDeleteChristmas Day is a quiet day in at the parents' house with a huge dinner and lots of booze, culminating in watching bad tv in our dressing gowns. Then on Boxing Day, the entire extended family will be descending on us and there the football squabbles will ensue.
I've also RTd (forfolkssakemcr) and liked your page on facebook. Thanks!
I shall be spending my Christmas with my family. First year my husband won't be working and will enjoy as a real family. Also first year I shall be spending it as Mrs Collard as got married this year :-) Hoping my parents can make it (weather depending) My babies 2nd Christmas, so he shall be old enough to really enjoy it. Especially excited for my 5 year old who is really into this year, even helped with all the decortaions. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteThis would just make my Christmas to win this super doper prize yay!!! Have tweeted competition @WendyCollard Merry Christmas xxx :-)
I'll be spending Christmas with the parental unit. Christmas is about family and no matter where I am in the world, I always vow to be home for the festive season.
ReplyDeleteLots of wine, champagne and traditional turkey lunch followed by a competition on Wii Sports Resort!
I will be really traditional! I will comeback home in Italy to spend the Christmas eating with all my family and friends ahahah! Finally is all about good food to share together no?
ReplyDeleteBest prize for christmas ever !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSpending christmas with all my family.Winning this would make my christmas complete :)xxxx
@CHOCOAJ on twitter
I'm spending Christmas the family way. Everyone will eat too much. At least one person will get too animated whilst holding a glass of red wine (we're a family of gesticulators). One cousin will talk all the way through the Doctor Who Christmas special, so another will sit on her to make her shut up. My Nana will buy us all something unspeakably ugly. My Dad will fall asleep whilst we're trying to play Trivial Pursuits or Articulate. I will be overwhelmed with how much I love the whole annoying lot of them.
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending Christmas day going on a long walk over the Wye Downs to try and make space for a big ol' Christmas dinner, as long as I can find someone to cook it for me!! What I do know is, that there will be many sherry's.
ReplyDeleteVictoria Terry
I'm spending Christmas with my husband and children. It is the youngest's first Christmas, so we are very excited!! xx
ReplyDeleteSpending Christmas with my family in South London. Although I'm not feeling terribly Christmassy so far. I'm hoping that will kick in when I see the Slow Club at Union Chapel gig - that's rapidly become a Christmas tradition for me!
ReplyDeleteFab prize.
I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing yet. But there will be two excited small children. And a large bottle of Baileys.
ReplyDeleteI'm spending it with family, eating lots and turning our living room into a sea of wrapping paper - leaving mum to clear it up of course! I then get to have a second Christmas day with my boyfriend and his family the day after, yay :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending Christmas day with the other half, children, brother and sister in law and their children at home in the Yorkshire Dales... The way it's snowing now it looks like we are set for a White Christmas! Bring on the food and drink!
ReplyDeletewe are spending time together as a family this year wich will be nice as partner usualy works.he will still be working as he be doing the xmas dinners lol.. @gettogirl09 RTed.. merry christmasall and good luck lovely lota prizes x
ReplyDeleteI will be spending it with my hubby and my gorgeous little boy and all my hubbys side of the family and raising a glass to my parents who are unfortunately no longer here. My mums most favourite time of the year so it's always hard. But my 4 year old son makes up for all of it. He's made christmas what it should be.....a very magical time, where Santa is believed in (I STILL believe in him!!!) :-)
ReplyDeleteWe'll be spending Christmas in Amsterdam! Cloggs, cheese and plenty of good dutch beer too! Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good giveaway! This year I'll be splitting my christmas between spending some time with my usually weekend-only long-distance boyfriend before going home to see the family for far too many quality streets, spending the majority of time in pyjamas, and remembering how brilliant my grandma is when she's a bit tipsy!
ReplyDeleteWow are you Santa?!!
ReplyDeleteOn Christmas morning we have to get my husband check that Santa's been, only then are my sons(aged 22 &23!) allowed into living room! Once we've opened our presents we go in our jammies to my Dad's for more presents & bacon rolls. In the afternoon the whole family(13 of us) are going to my aunt's for Christmas dinner, we are all responsible for preparing & serving part of the meal.I drew out soup so I'm feeling lucky haha. Then we have our annual quiz which is totally competitive. Full day but fantastic! @Kemcaflipflops
At home with the family
ReplyDeleteRobert
I'm (hopefully) going to travel 200 miles through Wales to spend a whole three weeks with my family in the Ogwen Valley where they live. I'm so excited about it I think I might actually cry when I arrive! It's me and my boyfriends 6th Christmas this year but we are both too stubborn to give up our family Christmases! My sister had a 18 month old daughter who I'm so excited to see enjoying Christmas, and my sister is also 8 months pregnant which will be lovely. I'm so excited! xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending Christmas day with my mum, my littlest sister and boyfriend. Boxing day we're moving to my middle sisters house and then on to my boyfriends side of the family. The day after boxing day will be with his family, the day after that possibly with his sister and neices.
ReplyDeletewe'll be going to my mum and dads ...who live next door but one to us ahah ,my two sisters and their families go too and my uncle . my mum ends up cooking for 14 of us and then me and my sisters do the washing up , while the fellas sleep off their dinner . im really looking forward to it .i love christmas and spending time with the family . my mum is an absolute saint
ReplyDeleteMy partner and I don't have definite plans as we usually go to Wales to spend Christmas with his family but the snow may thwart any travel plans and, as we moved into our first home together 6 months ago, my perfect Christmas would be locked in, cosy and warm, just the two of us
ReplyDeleteChristmas with my 3 children and various rellies!About 30 of us in total. Same old, same old!Probably the 18th year in a row- hopefully a calm, peaceful time for us all to reflect on the good times we have had and spare a thought for those who are no longer with us.
ReplyDeleteLots of nice food, games to play and ofcourse the children will put on a panto in the evening! I have been asked to make 6 tree costumes this year! curiouser and curiouser said Alice!
Have tweeted @kohsamui rosie and commented on fb also kohsamui rosie

following and retweeting on twitter @emmajane30 and also following on facebook emma jane holder
We'll be getting up at 4am to open pressies (I blame the early start on my daughter, but really it's me who is too excited!)
ReplyDeleteDownstairs to light a fire and coo over opening pressies with a glass of champagne, then my lovely husband will cook the huge dinner whilst we wait for my Mum to arrive.
After a late and long lunch we will take the dogs for a walk and sneek peeks into people's windows to see what they are doing on Christmas day.
Finally we will open a box of chocs, curl up and watch Dr. Who and then play a board game.
Bliss!
My mom is coming to visit from the States. On Xmas eve we go to Borough market and buy a goose and whatever other goodies we'll want with dinner (including lots of cheese from Neal's Yard) and have Xmas Eve dinner at Simpson's-in-the-Strand. On Christmas day we wake up late, eat home-made coffee cake, and then start cooking! We watch movies and open presents while the goose is roasting away. After dinner (with friends invited to share our goose) we play card games and watch more movies. It's wonderful fun.
ReplyDeleteWe will be spending Christmas with mine and my husbands family, we are a very close family, and we all get along so well!!
ReplyDeleteWe do it every year, and every year it just gets better and better xx
This year there will be 22 of us, and i cannot wait xx

I WOULD LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE AND BE SO HAPPY TO WIN. WHO WOULDNT, WOULD MAKE IT EXTRA SPEICAL XMAS THIS YEAR!
I'm spending Christmas away from home for the first time - but with my husband and in-laws, so it's really a home from home. I'm looking forward to being introduced to their way of doing things - though I'm not sure my liver is up to the amount of booze they'll be putting away!
ReplyDeleteI will mainly be spending Christmas tending to a huge slab of pork belly the size of my oven and nursing a pint of Hendricks with cucumber. My cat will even get his own version of turkey Christmas dinner. Miaw.
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas will involve escaping from London to the wilds of Suffolk and helping my mum and two older sisters prepare Christmas dinner for 10 while getting increasingly tipsy on red wine. Bliss!
ReplyDelete(retweeted as @halloween_becky)
I was going to be spending a really quiet Christmas with my mum, eating duck and watching films. Then five weeks ago I fell completely head over heels in love (thankfully, he feels the same way!!) So I've been given the best Christmas present in the whole world, as I know I've found the person I will spend every Christmas of my life with. We're going to spend Christmas in Devon with his family (have only met his mum and dad so far). His extended family are all magicians so I think it's going to a really fabulous time! I'm looking forward to sneaking off on our own for a festive walk on the (snowy?) beach :-) x
ReplyDeletemy kids and i are spending christmas for the first time ever without my parents so im going to make sure its extra special for them!!
ReplyDeleteLOTS of prezzys
LOTS of excited faces
LOTS of toys and noise
LOTS of love and laughter
LOTS of yummy treats and a MAHOOSIVE dinner
LOTS of fun and games
LOTS of festive movies (recovering from dinner)
and finally when they crash surrounded by all their lovely new bits LOTS of vino and snowballs for mummy :)
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE LOVE LINZ XXXXX <3 XXXXXX
I'm spending Christmas with my family, and given my newly broken rib (thanks very much to the bastard driver who failed to notice me cycling, despite my high-viz gear), I'm hoping to be waited on hand and foot. Sadly suspect this will not be the case, but at least there'll be lots of booze to numb the pain!
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending Christmas day at my aunt and uncle's house in Oxford with my family - big lunch, presents, games and tv - and no washing up at the end of it, marvellous!
ReplyDeleteWill be heading over to Ireland for 2 weeks to visit the in-laws and friends.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the food, sweeties, telly, booze etc etc

@steviey
This has been a tough year for my family as my Dad died so this year will be quiet but on Christmas day we're inviting friends and family round, we're cooking the turkey but every one is bringing a dish so no one has to do it all and it will be great to be surrounded by loved ones.. :)
ReplyDeleteMy fiancé is coming to stay with me for the next week so we can have some Christmassy time just the two of us. Then on Christmas Eve we will travel up to York to spend Christmas with our families. Then on Boxing Day we will be going out to celebrate our engagement with friends.
ReplyDeleteNormally we all pile round my parents house for Christmas (and yes, we are all grown ups with children!) but this year we have all moved house - my brother wins the silliness stakes by scheduling their move for Dec 22nd, while my parents come a close second by moving a week ago. So it's a quiet Christmas at my slightly less new house this year. Just me and hubby. And my sister. And my three under 5s. Oh, and maybe my parents if they can spare a day from unpacking boxes.
ReplyDeleteI am not able to spend this Christmas with my family as we are all over the world and it is just not possible this Christmas... It's my first family-less Christmas which is not the best feeling in the world... but being able to dress up and get excited about all these super amazeballs goodies would completely MAKE MY CHRISTMAS! If I can't have my family around me, I can atleast have lots of Domestic Sluttery goodies to ease the pain?
ReplyDelete<3
I'm hosting Christmas with mum this year, so after breakfast and presents, I'll be cooking non-stop till lunchtime! Then, providing I haven't given anyone food poisoning, we'll have more presents, some bubbles, then spend the rest of the day eating till we burst! Perfect.
ReplyDeleteWe shall spend Christmas as a close loving family, apreciating what we have, or have not, after losing my friend last Christmas Day, its been a hard year. Merry Chtisymas. X
ReplyDeleteI shall be spending a few days at my parents, and eating lots and lots no doubt! Oh and watching all the Christmas telly, of course.
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Xmas at my parents with my boyfriend and my HUGE baby bump as I will be 36 weeks pregnant by then! I will be keeping my legs crossed that baby doesn't decide to arrive early and watching jealously as everyone else gets merry!!! X
ReplyDeleteI'm hibernating with the OH and Demon Baby with the blinds drawn and phones turned off.
ReplyDeleteI will be preserving Christmas tradition number 1 by getting the train to Cardiff on the 21st, wrapping presents en route (fingers crossed for a seat with a big table), then spending 7 hours in tesco with my frazzled mum on the 23rd (Christmas tradition number 2) before my siblings and I decide we'd rather watch Elf than go to midnight mass (tradition number 3) and then on Christmas morning walk Rosie the naughtiest labrador in the world, who will inevitably jump into the freezing cold river to chase the swans (number 4) and then will settle down to a delicious lunch with burnt stuffing (number 5) - I wouldn't have it any other way!
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas!
Jade Broughton
As it's just me & my Mother( who is 90 & in a wheelchair) this year, we're going away to a hotel in the Cotswolds, so that I can relax a bit and let someone else do the cooking. It's expensive, and money is tight, but this is the first year without the children, and we both need cheering up!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas with my lovely ex and his wonderful family. It will be a bit weird but I feel hugely thankful I have such kind people in my life!
ReplyDeleteIt's my first Christmas as a wifey, and I'll be spending it with the vegan in-laws! Gasp! Should be fun though, and my 8 month Bump will also be there - means a bit less booze, but I'm looking forward to a glass of champagne with my husbando.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking the train to my parents on xmas eve where my mother will be tottering in heels making a gorgeous dinner (her honey glazed gammon is to die for) and then we all go to bed but not before our yearly tradition of reading "twas the night before christmas" in the morning me and my sister wake my dad up who has to go downstairs before all of us, to check santa's been he gives us the thumbs up then we run downstairs and all open our presents then we have lots of tea and chill in front of the tv before the rest of my family come over for a nice drink of brandy.
ReplyDeleteOoh can I enter? I'll be tweeting and liking it too.
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas will be just me and my man at home for the first time just the two of us. I have no idea what that means it will be like but if Ocado can brave the snow there will be mulled wine, smoked salmon and beef wellington involved.
I shall be spending Christmas with my family. And one of my children has just gone down with chickenpox, so it'll be lashings and lashings of calamine lotion in our house.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas!
Sally
All I pray for is that my Christmas is WikiLeaks (or, as my Grampy calls it 'WillyLeaks') free... then I shall sleep zzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteI am spending crimbo with friends and family opening lots of presents, big ones!! its also my birthday on the 23rd and I plan to drink lots of cocktails!! also I with be making a truffle rissotto te he he
ReplyDeleteOoo what a prize!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas with my family, who I haven't seen since May as I moved to deepest Kent, far away from my homeland of Cheshire and Nottingham (where I was before). I can't wait to see them! As I'm the eldest of 6 kids and my parents have a demented poodle & labradoodle it's going to be chaotic and brilliant :) x
On Christmas morning, I will be waking up on Mums sofa (with a crick neck no doubt!) and open all my Sisters prezzies! No! I promise I won't. Dinner at 12/1pm and then sat on the same sofa with the family settling down to listen to the Queens speech, then sleeeeeeeping off the huge amount of Mums mini 'cabbages' I always over eat, just a bit. Only interrupted by my Brothers terrible wind problem. Can't wait...............!
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending it with my mum and boyfriend, eating, watching tv and opening presents :)
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas enveloped in the love of family. Saving for our first home together means that my Husband and I have had to be a bit frugal with the Christmas budget
ReplyDelete(and a bit more inventive with the gifts), but we all know that it is spending time together that matters the most.
We will be spending our first christmas as a family of four! So this will mean mainly trying to stop the littlest pulling the tree over and the oldest from opening everyone elses presents! The ILs and my brother will be coming round for dinner so no doubt a few drinks will be consumed. I will then be putting my feet up for the afternoon after being sole cook in charge whilst everyone else does the tidying. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteI am a very lucky lady this year. I don't really have much in the way of family, and six months ago Xmas was looking likely to be a bit of a non-event. Cue unexpected lovely new boyfriend, with equally lovely family. I am being whisked away for two weeks in New England. Am extremely excited about the holiday and touched they have all been so willing to accept me into their family. It's going to be a good Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas at home with my parents and my grandfather having Christmas lunch, then falling alseep in front of the telly after stuffing my face with shortbread and quality street. Then my boyfriend will come round in the evening so I can give him his gifts in the worst-stitched stocking in history that I have hand made for him.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be flying in from Russia at 7pm on christmas eve, staying overnight in London and then driving up North to stay with my lovely daddy and his wife, watch black and white movies, wear christmas jumperss and eat quality streets. Per.Fec.Tion.
ReplyDeleteGood God what a prize! Well, since my Mum is poorly and siblings are, well, they're boys, I'll be doing Christmas this year! Eeeeeeek! First time ever...Not only that but I'll be working Christmas Eve as a kids entertainer, so will have to start the prep late, covered in face paint and glitter, with the howls of desperately over excited kids echoing eternally in my ears! A list has been preapred for the men folk on what to do in my absence. I'm not going to lie. I am TERRIFIED!!!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas with my family in rural Suffolk, taking the stress of cooking for nine people off my mum!
ReplyDeleteChristmas morning is the best, mum and I get up early to start preparing the mulled wine to fill the house with the smell of Christmas. I love spending time alone with my mum in the calm before the festivities start, listening to old Christmas songs and chatting while we cook - Christmassy heaven!
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all the Domestic Sluts!
I'll be spending Christmas Day at work in a hostel for young mums. I'll be cooking Christmas lunch with the residents and we'll all be settling down in the afternoon to watch something festive on the box. It's always great fun! In the evening i will be snuggling up with my boyfriend and cats at home, eating mince pies and drinking wine. Bliss!
ReplyDeleteI will be spending Christmas in London. Just taking a break from the hectic pace that has been the last year. I am hoping there is snow!
ReplyDeleteChristmas is a season for me and a very busy one at that! It started about a month ago when I baked my Christmas cakes and puddings and has continued at a pace ever since. I went to the school nativity the other night, that really gets me in the mood and this Saturday is Christmas Mark 1 with the in laws, we'll have a buffet, pull crackers and open gifts as we can't be in two places at once on Christmas day.
ReplyDeleteOn Christmas day itself I'll go to my mum's with my sister, husband, daughter and my Nanna (she's 82) and we'll have a traditional lunch, open presents, watch a little telly, play with out gifts then eat a small buffet at tea with us 'making room' for just a small slice of my Christmas cake. It doesn't matter how full you are you HAVE to make room for a slice of cake! :)

Hi,
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful xmas treat this will be for someone! would love to have this one!!!
This xmas, I will be staying at home with hubby and having a cosy one..Been a busy and touch year for us and we've been working hard so just want to spend a little cosy time with each other (and your mountain of gifts!)..We will be visiting our family but will be cosying on up with some mulled wine and catching up on the movies we've missed this year!!

This will be the second Christmas without my mum, but although I was dreading last year it turned out to be cosy and fun. Looking forward to sprawling on the sofa in front of the tv and fire with my dad, sister and cat; knitting and eating German Christmas biscuits.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a quiet Christmas in our house this year. We can't afford to splash out, so we'll settle down in front of th TV and watch all those Christmassy films then dig out some old board games, such as trivial pursuit or Monopoly to play. Then it won't be quite so quiet - more argumentative.
