Cocktail Hour: All Star Julep

A couple of weeks ago, some of the Domestic Sluts were getting up to all sorts of trouble in the private room at All Star Lanes. Not only did bowling ensue (badly), there was also some great karaoke action. Jane and I do an ear-splitting excellent rendition of Ballroom Blitz. Our willingness to embarrass ourselves was partly down to the tasty cocktails. All Star Lanes kindly gave me the recipe for their All Star Julep, so you can recreate the whole rock ballad air guitar thing in your kitchen.

Based on the Mint Julep, one of the oldest American Cocktails, The All Star Julep is a variation with the addition of citrus and berry fruits. Very tasty it is too.

You'll need:
  • 40ml Bourbon
  • 6-8 mint leaves
  • 25ml cranberry juice
  • 15ml Apricot liqueur
  • 10ml raspberries puree
  • lemon wedge
Shake it!
  • Squeeze lemon wedge into a julep tin add mint and the rest of the ingredients.
  • Add a scoop of crushed ice and mix.
  • Top off with more crushed ice and garnish with a mint sprig and a raspberry.
  • And then get singing and making a fool of yourself, it's only fair.

  1. Oh, I used to work at Holborn All Star's - the barmen are amazing. But I would ask them to do a Tom Collins next time you're there, or their Pin Up Girl. I'm still rubbish at bowling...
