Oh
Graham & Green. Usually you get it bang on. Usually I spend my hangovers marvelling at your pretty items (and your styling and photography too for that matter). But this
bird cage lamp? I really can't make up my mind. I like the whole bird cage thing - my jewellery hangs off one - but I'm not sure how I feel about the birds. Let's have a closer look at them.
The lamp itself is lovely. It's got a really unique edge about it, without the fake birds. A little something about it that makes me think of intrepid explorers on ships. But the birds, the birds creep me out. And they're also added to a lamp that's £375. Blimey. Is it cheaper without them?
Oh my God, this brings childhood memories! I had a similar lampshade at my Nan's but in rattan and hanging from the ceiling. Definitely very cute for the sentimental value!
ReplyDeleteThree hundred and HOW MUCH?! Flipping heck. I'd want the birdies to be gold plated, for that. Having said that, if it were priced more competitively, I'd buy it. :)
ReplyDelete*shudder*
ReplyDeleteObjectively, pretty-fake-birdies are pretty and fake.
But I have prettier real birdies and thus find these ones A Bit Creepy.
And anyway, I'm not spending £375 on a lamp that would just end up having pretty-fake-birdies nibbled to bits by prettier-real-birdies in some sort of feather-laden massacre!
I actually love it. But not at that price.
ReplyDeleteI really really really love it - but love the pendant light fitting version even more and have a pic of it in my "To buy when I get my new house" file!
ReplyDeletereally sorry but i really like it!! its a 'I know I shouldn't but I do!' thing!!
ReplyDeleteOh there's this one too!

They still creep me out though.
I like it! But the price sucks. I could buy so much cake with that amount of money, ridiculous. Also I'm pretty sure i could make that lamp myself just by raiding my garage, if I had a garage...
ReplyDeleteI love it and I'm tempted to make my own. I've been buying one Christmas tree decoration bird from Liberty's each year, and want to turn them into this.
ReplyDeleteC.R.E.E.P.Y!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Second hand lamp, fake birds and glue gun...
ReplyDeleteMmmmm - buy lampbase from a car-boot sale... take one cylinder lampshade, strip off fabric, replace with 18" of wire mesh from B&Q - et voila!
ReplyDeleteBird cage lamp - birds optional, but I reckon Paperchase could sell you have a dozen for a tenner... On the otherhand you could fling £375 away, but I think you've got more money than sense if you buy one of these!
i love this, but something about those birds look a bit too flammable to be near a bulb which inevitably will get hot...
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love, love it but it's definitely in the 'over-priced and you really should make it yourself as your hard work will make you smile when you look at it' folder. Which it is.
ReplyDeleteoh, lord. While I like bird wallpaper, I could never live with it in my house (I must have watched The Birds as a very young child or soemthing) but this would freak me out!!
