Design Porn: Alexana Cayless' Fly Tip Furniture

Alexana Cayless is a furniture designer based in London. And a very arty one at that. She looks at concepts and ideas and makes some very excellent pieces (like this chair, this silver chipshop fork, this ceramic hip flask). But my favourite pieces are in her Fly Tip range:

Alexana has given fly tipped furniture a whole new life (and a lick of paint). This cabinet is my favourite piece.

As well as rescuing stray pieces from their dumping spots, she's also given them a redesign, printing images on them from the very place they were found. The striking black and white is fantastic, don't you think? They'll look fantastic mixed in with the rest of your furniture.

The collection is ever evolving, so you might find yourself with something entirely different. But the prices will hover around between £200 and £450 depending on which item you choose. This is such a fantastic example of upcycling. Not only does Alexana recycle old pieces otherwise left for trash, she turns them into unique pieces of art that reminds you where they came from. What more could you ask for from recycled homewares?
