Get Crafty: The Makery in Bath

I love the idea of The Makery in Bath. A creative hub for all sorts of crafty endeavours, it's home to workshops, a shop and cafe, with a selection of Makery Kits also available online. And when it comes to making, mending and updating, they don't just talk the talk. Almost all the furniture in The Makery Emporium has been reclaimed from places like Freecycle and given a makeover to transform them into treasured, unique pieces. And they've got all sorts of ways that they want to get you involved, too.
The Makery Cafe is a regular Friday morning session where you can indulge in tea and coffee, delicious homemade cakes and friendly chit-chat while working on your latest project. For only £5 an hour, you get access to their machines, tools and an expert tutor, as well as inspiration and advice from the other attendees.

But if you're usually all fingers and thumbs when it comes to crafting, then invest instead in one of their workshops, starting from only £30 including materials costs. There's sewing and textiles sessions from crochet to curtain-making, and home and garden workshops such as print-making and furniture upholstery.
Last but not least, there's their parties. Want to do something different for your birthday or that hen party you've been roped into organising? Spend an afternoon making your own beauty products, bath bombs, garters or fascinators: you'll have a fab time, come away with a sweet souvenir and feel all wholesome and productive too. And if you want to make a weekend of it, Bath is full of gorgeous B&Bs.
