Shoe Porn: Annie platforms by Carvela
I'm in serious need of some good shoe porn. I feel my footwear has got a bit dull lately: my last shoe purchases have been practical flats and, yesterday, I found myself handing putting an eye watering amount on my credit card to purchase a pair of hiking boots. Clearly this trend needs to be reversed somehow. To add to my footwear insecurity, I've just been at the doctors and found out I'm over an inch shorter than I always thought I was. Surely there's only logical one answer to this sad state of affairs: ridiculous platforms (that's close to what it says on my Doctor prescription, honest).
While I was sat trying to get my head around my new height placing in the world, what landed in my in-box but news of Kurt Geiger's Spring/Summer collection? And then, like footwear from the heavens, Carvela's rather fabulous Annie platforms presented themselves as the answer to both my shoe rut and height issues.
Like the equally beguiling Topshop Snakeskin heels we showed you a little while back, these have got stomping appeal. They demand some serious attention. They also mean that hopefully I'll be getting some serious attention. I'm shunning the black pair in the attempt to avoid all associations with being sensible and going for the retro-tastic brown. Come summer, I look forward to wearing these with all my vintage cotton frocks, sunglasses and pretending I am actually in 1970s New York, rather than on a sticky London bus. Till then I'll be wearing them with all manner of cosy leg wear and pretending that it's almost summer.
The shoes cost £140 but for the almighty trio of breaking me out of my style rut, giving me my extra height inches back, and not being hiking boots, frankly they're cheap at the price.
Those are gorgeous, I really want them - would wear with 70s high waisted flared jeans.
ReplyDeleteI think hiking boots AND the heels are a must!
