Don’t panic – this isn’t some unpronounceable South American rainforest tribe, it’s Nina spelled phonetically!
I’ve been in love with Nina Dewey’s imaginative clothing since I saw one of her shirt bodices out of the corner of my eye at Spitalfields market. My poor brunch companion was left to dine alone with a pile of dust as I sprinted over to her stall and started cooing.
Nina makes skirts out of suit trousers and jackets, corsets from ties and my favourite, the shirt bodice. People have wedding dresses made from this design, it’s that awesome! Even in the three years since I bought mine (shirt bodice, not wedding dress), I’ve not seen anything like it. Original and utterly fabulous.
Each piece is individually made and is so beautifully fitted that you feel trim, ladylike and amazing – and hey, she once worked under Roland Mouret so that shouldn't come as a surprise.
If you're confident about your size, or just want to gawp at her amazing stuff, you can buy direct from Nina’s website. Her stall is in Spitalfields market every Sunday. Tops are from £45.
Wow! Stunningly fabulous.
