Cocktail Hour: Maggie's Mexican Flame

It’s video time again chez Sluttery, and we thought we’d bring you an amazingly boozy end-of-week special from one of London’s coolest bars.

Maggie’s is probably one of the maddest 80s-themed bars you’ll ever go to – the theme (the clue is in the name) is Margaret Thatcher, and aside from hearing her speeches piped into the loos, you get to sit on a Rubik’s cube stool, sipping awesome cocktails that you get to choose from a visual menu by looking through a Viewmaster (remember those?!)

This week the delightful manager Alejandro brings us the Mexican Flame – the booziest, fieriest cocktail you’ll ever see. We suggest you watch the video – it’s a real spectacle!

You'll need:
  • 10 ml Galliano
  • 10 ml Baileys
  • 10 ml Kahlua
  • 10 ml Amaretto
  • 30 ml Tequila
  • 10 ml Sambuca
  • 10 ml Absinthe
  • 15ml 70% proof Rum
Shake it!

Pour the ingredients one by one over the top in order, excluding the rum. Pour the rum into a milk saucepan, and set it alight. Pour it into another milk saucepan and back again, to let the alcohol burn off. Then pour the flaming rum over the glasses. Use a long straw to drink so you don’t burn your lips!

For the record - although the Mexican Flame looks INCREDIBLY alcoholic, some of it must burn off because the result is creamy, delicious and wonderful!
