I went to see the new Jane Eyre film last night. Obviously it was never going to live up to the book and it didn't look quite as I imagine it, still this version had me totally engrossed. Once over though, I was glad to step out onto a bright London high street and back into my twenty-first century life. Which brings me to this, the Jane mirror from Habitat. It's a mirror inspired by the storyline of Jane Eyre. Much as I adore the book, do I want to spend £160 to be reminded of it every time I go to look and check if I've got spinach stuck in my teeth?
On the plus side, I do quite like the gothic style silhouettes, and I'm a sucker for most things book related. However, I'm not sure I want to decorate my house with a mirror that celebrates a story where a house is burnt down, and there's someone hidden away in the attic.
What do you think, am I being overly sensitive and it's an imaginative reinterpretation of a classic story? Or do you agree with me that they could have picked a slightly happier tale?
The scissors really jumps out at me. I'd have nightmares about that if it was in my bedroom.
ReplyDeleteI spotted this a fw weeks ago, and I love it.. I'm big fat book nerd though
ReplyDeleteLove it and I love the fact that it's a bit dark and creepy too.
ReplyDeleteI love it, but I agree that the scissors are a little creepy!
ReplyDelete(I spotted this in one of the outlets closing down near me at a much cheaper price, might be worth a look)
Ooo, good tip Emma, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think it's the candle that gives me the heebie jeebies...
I love it so much I purchased it. Not so much because I love the book but because I have a love affair with Tatty Devine and it reminded me a lot of their stuff.
ReplyDeleteI've not regretted it and so many people have commented on it! Do. It.
Really like it!
