Design Porn: Emma Cowlam for the V&A

When designers that have been supported on Domestic Sluttery for a long time get really good gigs, I always do a little bit of an air punch. It's so much fun to see independent illustrators and crafty types doing well, it's amazing to see more of their work available. It's nice to see that they're being recognised as some of the best artistic talent in the country. So I'm absolutely thrilled to see Emma Cowlam working in collaboration with The V&A Museum.

My favourite work of Emma's is always the fashion-inspired pieces. They always make me feel slightly underdressed.

Each one is an original design for the V&A, and handstitched onto A3 card.

Prices start at £75, which is pricey but certainly not an eye-watering price for a piece of original artwork. Look at the stitching! So much work went into these.

You can see more of Emma's work over on her website. Seen any other designers doing some cool stuff recently? Tell us about it!

  1. I am absolutely in love with the work of this designer, so minimal and yet elaborated - don't see that every day. Another set of designs that I set my heart on are on this website: http://www.lionheartstationers.co.uk/ which though have a commercial purpose, make the whole concept of personalised stationery go to a different level. what do you think?
