Win! A chutney hamper from Tracklements

On the eighth day of Christmas, Domestic Sluttery gave to me... a hamper full of Tracklements chutney.

The very best thing about Christmas is the non-meals. You don't really know what you fancy, so your 'lunch' consists of a few chocs from a tin of Roses a packet of Mini Cheddars and some brie on a cracker. That's it. You can have the same food an hour later if you like. There's no one to tell you off (except me, if you think it's a good idea to eat all of my brie, go ahead).

Tracklements are giving away a hamper full of all sorts of tasty, onion marmalade, quince, chilli jam, and loads of other goodies that go perfectly with cheese. What do you have to do to win? Just leave a comment below telling us your favourite Christmas snack. Are you a fan of leftover roast potatoes? Or do you eat the Ferrero Rocher before anyone has even had a look in?

You've got until midnight to tell us the answer and then tomorrow morning we'll announce the winner with our next competition.

Good luck everyone!

Oh yawn, small print (read it). The competition will close at Midnight on December 12th. You must be UK based to enter, sorry you lovely overseas readers. If you're anon your entry won't count and if you enter more than once, we'll discount all of your entries and tell you off. The winning entry will be chosen at random and you must claim your prize by the 16th or we'll draw again. If you've won one competition this Christmas, let someone else have a bash and go and play with your toys! We're not allowed to enter our own competitions but Siany's Christmas would not be the same without Twiglets.

  2. Stollen. Yum yum yum!!!!!

  3. My Christmas would not be the same without 'kilted sausages' (or pigs in blankets.) Just give me a plate of those with some stuffing and I one happy christmas cookie!!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Red onion chutney, Brie & crackers. Washed down with mulled wine and finished off with quality street. Then I wonder why I am fat in January!

    ReplyDelete
  5. In an ideal world, it would be roast potatoes but they never make it to the leftover stage in my house. But, the xmas pud does, so I can snack on that to my heart's content.

  6. A bubble and squeak made from Christmas dinner leftovers - using gravy and homemade cranberry sauce to bind it all together. Sounds dreadful, but with lashings of Worcester sauce is fantastic. It's also the only thing that my father-in-law has ever cooked for me!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Wensleydale with cranberrys and a nice glass of Shiraz!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Leftover stuffing sandwiches. My mum knows to make extra stuffing because I love to eat it. Thick sliced White bread, pickle and a slab of stuffing.

Admittedly, you go into a bit of a carb coma afterwards, but boxing day is designed for being slumped on the sofa, right?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Roast chestnuts... and cheese (not at the same time)

    ReplyDelete
  10. It has to be cheese. The stronger and stinkier the better. Oh God, I want cheese NOW! Oooh and maybe a few twiglets and cheeselets and crisps and a bit more cheese and some chocolate and a little bit more cheese and....

    ReplyDelete
  11. Big chunk of cheese, big glass of red = Big fat smile. Merry Christmas everyone!!

  12. Cheeeessseeee. It's not Christmas with out lots and lots of cheese :)

Mmm, lovely chocolate...give me a tin of Quality Street or Roses, I'd end up with tennis elbow if I got both at the same time, lol.

  14. Boxing Day bubble and squeak with lots of pickles, Branston pickle finished with onion sauce- Yummy! rounded off with smoked applewood cheese, crackers and mulled wine chutney! Roll on the next two weeks to the big day :)

  17. TUNIS CAKE!!!!!! I LOVE Tunis Cake! It reminds me of Christmas years ago with my now long departed beautiful Grandma. A slice of Tunis Cake makes me feel warm and Christmassy right from the moment I spot it on the shelf in the shop, all the way to the very last bite and beyond! I'm hopping to get one today! Meryy Christmas Everyone, sending you all warm winter wishes. xxxxx

  18. I get up, and for a pre-breakfast snack I'll have some Twiglets. After breakfast, it's time for some Twiglets, then maybe a few more Twiglets. After a quick champagne break, I'll indulge in a few Twiglets, followed by Twiglets on Twiglets and maybe, if I'm peckish in the mid-afternoon, a Twiglet sandwich. After dinner, some favour mints. I favour Twiglets.

  19. The 'moist-maker' leftover sandwich, as inspired by Ross and Monica in Friends. It's basically a bit of everything left over from Xmas lunch, with a generous helping of bread sauce. Amazing! It's worth the Xmas family overload by itself!!

    xx

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love using leftover bread sauce as a dip and dipping pigs in blankets in. Add cranberry sauce for extra YUM.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ooh, maybe Bubble and Squeak! With lots of salt and pepper... yum!

    ReplyDelete
  22. My favourite Christmas snack is a bag of chocolate coins. For some reason, chocolate tastes even better when it is shaped like money. As someone who never has any money, it's very comforting to eat it from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  23. M&S party nibbles (the cheese wrapped in bacon). I eat an embarrassing amount of these every December :-s

    ReplyDelete
  24. Has to be Pigs in Blankets - could eat them until I pop! It's probably just as well it's not roast veg, as my husband makes sure there are none of those left after dinner!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Pigs in a blanket or devils on horseback, basically meaty snacks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. A bread sauce sandwich, but only if the bread sauce has been made in the proper way and left to infuse for ages. Sounds bizarre, but it's so good!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Warm mince pies and stilton. They go together wonderfully.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Homemade christmas cake, with Whensleydale and a port and lemon - keeping it old school and classic

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love to nibble on Panforte whilst sipping a nice little glass of liqueur...Mmmmmmmmmm!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Homemade Christmas Cake (Great Auntie Hazel's secret recipe) with Wensleydale Cheese - it's the Yorkshire way :)

I love bubble and squeak (slightly burnt) with pickle (accompanied by a sizeable measure of sloe gin. Rude not to really!)

    ReplyDelete
  32. My mum's homemade bacon and herb stuffing. It is seriously the nicest thing I have ever tasted. It takes up about half my plate for Christmas dinner, my mum has to make extra :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Not being a lover of chocolate my passion is savoury things and I am a big lover of cheese and sometimes the stinkier the better, I would love this array of chutneys to accompany my platter of cheeses while everyone else pigs out on chocolate :0)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oooo yummy! I love the leftover yorkshire puddings - ideally with golden syrup. We always make loads :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. left over stuffing balls! dipped in mayo and chilli sauce!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, left over roasties with cheese is a favourite.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Onion Gravy! i could drink the stuff mmmm @lillyfer85

  40. Fruit cake. Christmas time is when I indulge. And I make sure I indulge in style :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. You can't beat Quality Street (purple, mostly) followed by Cheese and crackers (Wensleydale, mostly)

Surely there is no bigger indulgence then chocolate and cheese in the same sitting?! And you MUST be curled up on the sofa with a blanket whilst indulging in this treat.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Bubble and squeak on Boxing Day morning made from leftover (if there is any) food from Christmas day. I just love fried brussel sprouts!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Crisps any flavour and shape or size will do with dips and cheese!! anything Savoury really ..ooohh pickles too :-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. It has to be the Boxing Day Sandwich! The thickest pieces of fresh granary bread, lashings of mayo, salt, pepper, turkey, potatoes, stuffing and roast parsnips! Followed by some chocolate coins, obviously.

    ReplyDelete
  45. A small nugget of Stilton and a dash of piccalilli on a Ritz cracker!

    ReplyDelete
  46. My mum makes the most amazing christmas cookies covered in yummy frosting. Can't help but sneak a quick one every few minutes!

    ReplyDelete

There are so many Christmas snacks I enjoy, all consisting of the colour brown. Delicious brown! However I'm particularly partial to the pre-breakfast ferrero. I like to think of it as an amuse bouche.

    ReplyDelete
  50. My all time favourite snack is cold christmas pudding and cheese

    ReplyDelete
  51. i love cheese and crackers, there is always so much choice at christmas time xxx

    ReplyDelete
  52. Cheese and biscuits (with chutney!)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love brie and cranberry parcels. It's a tough choice between them and mince pies!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Leftover cold ham and warm bread sauce. My sisters and I hide it from my brothers so we can have a midnight feast.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Smoked salmon as I'm only allowed to splash out on it at christmas

    ReplyDelete
  56. My favourite Christmas snack is always always cheese...and lots of it! The stinkier and runnier the better! Slathered on crackers, spread on toast or, more often, eaten straight from the block with a knife/scraped off the wrapper with a spoon as it attempts to make a break for freedom across the kitchen. Brie, Camembert, Epoisses, Dolcelatte, Stilton..I could go on for weeks... My mouth is watering in anticipation already....mmmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  57. A gorgeous glass of port with some seriously smelling cheese!

    ReplyDelete
  58. My favourite (or favourites as my Nan is an amazing cook and puts on a massive feast & the most exceptional cheeseboard ever!) is bread sauce. As I am such a fussy eater I end up with roasties, stuffing, pigs in blankets, meat & yorkshire puddings on the day. But at the very end (after I have gorged on cheese & cockburns afterwards) is to demolish the last of the bread sauce. Just leave me the bowl and a spoon and I am in heaven! Better if there are some pigs in blankets left over to dip in the sauce, but thats a rarity among my family! x

    ReplyDelete
  59. Got to be the chocolate coins! Whoever came up with the idea of filling money with chocolate was genius. x

  61. It has to be cheese, we always treat ourselves at christmas to a really good cheese selection, normally with something we haven't tried before. Served with handmade chutney.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Prawns - we buy the big ones to make nice prawn cocktails as a starter, but I tend to nibble on them first.

I'm married to an Icelander, and in Iceland people bake piparkökur before the first advent, and then each advent they get them out and eat the piparkökur together.

It's become a big tradition for me - piparkökur are basically ginger bread biscuits but spiced with cloves, cinnamon and pepper. We always have a bowl of the biscuits out during Christmas, perfect snack with a coffee :)

This is a recipe I found.

  64. Leftover turkey, brie and cranberry sandwiches. Nom!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Cheese with crackers, nuts and fruit - yum!

    ReplyDelete
  66. My absolute FAVOURITE Christmas snack is brazil nuts wrapped in marzipan and dipped in chocolate. My sisters and I make a huge batch of them every Christmas Eve to be dipped into throughout the next day. Just thinking about them makes my mouth water!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Leftover stuffing and turkey with the last drop of gravy is THE BEST 'in front of Morecambe and Wise Christmas special' leftover supper ever.

Can't wait to tuck into this on Christmas night.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh it has to be lebkuchen!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Pigs in blankets don't have a chance in my house - I scoff them all!

    ReplyDelete
  70. It is ALL about the Stollen for me..... true Christmas joy In My Mouth!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Brie with stuffing and cranberry on a slice of crusty fresh bread!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Any Christmas Charcuterie is in danger if I get anywhere near it. I'll pick away at the slices on a plate till it becomes obvious that it would be better for the lot to disappear than leave any evidence of the return of the secret saucisson eater...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Pretzels.... Or the marzipan and icing off the outside of the Christmas cake! The best year was when we made two MASSIVE gingerbread houses and every time we went into the kitchen we'd break a bit off.....

    ReplyDelete
  74. It would have to be tha ham that we always have on xmas morning for breakfast. The big joint gets put in the ove around 6am and we have it with eggs, tomatoes and toast. I then spend the rest of the day slicing bits off and dipping in sauces or the christmas gravy :)

  76. I absolutely love gravy! Hot, cold, fresh or old - it's absolutely yummy! My favourite has to be turkey gravy, the leftovers on Christmas day once everyone has had enough. This is quite embarrassing now but when I was younger, I used to drink gravy from the jug. Or the pan. Or off my plate...! Now I use a spoon (growing up and years of funny looks off family and friends does that to you!). Dipping things in is fun, but not always needed - gravy is the best leftover of them all!! :) Krissy

    ReplyDelete
  77. The tradition for my family, ever since I was week, is to take all the Christmas dinner leftovers - turkey, potatoes, chipolatas (hardly ever any left, I hoover them up), sprouts, parsnips, the works - and roughly chop them on Boxing Day morning and have them in an omelette for breakfast - it sounds a bit odd but it's really very tasty. Try it!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Cheese and crackers - definitely! I particularly love a strong mature Welsh cheddar cheese. ~ Sara

    ReplyDelete
  79. we start off with a jamaican breakfast, so i make a load of salt fish fritters and i love picking on those during the day while getting the xmas meal together

    ReplyDelete
  80. Everything - especially as i have been pregnant for most of this year so at last can eat naughty foods :-) xx

    ReplyDelete
  81. Don't care what as long as it's covered in proper home-made gravy :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'm with the other Boxing Day bubble and squeak-ers! my mum now cooks too much on purpose to make sure we have leftovers for it, otherwise we all get in a bit of a grump. It's always delicious, and always with leftover cold meat and mango chutney, and always, always the best bit of christmas :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. I have LOADS of faves, but one of them is a sausage wrapped in bacon dipped in cranberry sauce! Yum :o)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Cheese savouries have to be my favourite festive food. The little shaped cheese crisps - hearts, diamonds, ovals etc. - have always screamed Christmas to me since I was a child and I love them just as much now as I ever did!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Bubble and squeak! Who knew mashed and refried brussel sprouts, parsnips and potatoes could taste so gooood?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Bubble and Squeak with left over cheese crumbled in too. Smashing with a little chutney!

    ReplyDelete
  87. For me anything with cheese. That will do me. Cheese and cured meats and I am there!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. For me anything with cheese. That will do me. Cheese and cured meats and I am there!!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Its got to be a box of assorted nice crackers and lots of different cheeses- too expensive for all year round treats x

    ReplyDelete
  90. In the least sexy snack award, it consistently seems to involve gobbling the little pot of vegetables my mother puts aside (along with leftover gravy) less than 2 hours after I've finished the roast and announced "Oh I couldn't possible eat more."

    ReplyDelete
  91. Selection tins of biscuits - specifically the ginger nuts, dunked in coffee. mmmmmmmmm. Also cheeses with fruit in them - it used to be that I could only get Wensleydale with Cranberry around christmas time and it's hands down delicious.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I love cheese and pineapple on a cocktail stick!

    ReplyDelete
  93. An obvious choice, but it's got to be cheese. Last year I got seriously into blue cheese, but any cheese will do! My favourite thing about Christmas is the way that for about a week it suddenly becomes perfectly acceptable to have a plate (or two...) of cheese and crackers and chutney and Christmas leftovers before bed, even if you've already eaten your own bodyweight in festive food.

    ReplyDelete
  94. My fave Xmas snack would be leftover veggies from lunch popped in the microwave and nuked with a layer of cheese and eaten with some pickle and french stick. You should try it sometime. It's glorious winter comfort food!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Chocolate! I'm not fussy, milk, dark, white, I'll have 'owt! Or Cheese, as long as its strong! Or Chocolate and Cheese together (the one from morrisons) yum!

    ReplyDelete

    @sheldex

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  106. home made Christmas pudding leftovers, trifle, cream and maybe a bit more leftover Christmas pudding and maybe a little more cream :)

    ReplyDelete
  108. Got to be lindt chocolate balls, the red ones. Melt in the mouth awesomeness. Woe betide anyone who tries to speak to me while I'm eating one!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Christmas eve when the ham is cooked and warm have some with lovely fresh new bread and butter (has to be butter not a spread) and some onion marmalade spread on top - lovely dribbling now at the thought of it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  128. The best snack for me at Christmas (though there's huge competition from satsumas, cheese, chocolates, biscuits, cooked meats, little nibbley baked things... there are a lot of great snacks at christmas!) are pistachio nuts. Its so soothing working your way through a bowl, cracking off the shells as you go, occasionally licking one oe two for the salty taste... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  129. I am partial to cold trimmings from the dinner and will quite happily pour cold gravy over it. I will also pick at the cheese board and chutneys all day long. I love chocolate but savoury bits and bobs always draw me in first!
