Tall Girl Treat: Monsoon Vicky Dress

I had an animated chat with another very tall girl in the office this morning about buying on the High Street. With a bit of careful shopping, you can get your entire wardrobe there without having to delve into the specialist category (Long Tall Sally, so good last year, has hit its periodic nosedive this spring).

My absolute go-to for lovely dresses, is Monsoon. Utterly, utterly brilliant; well-cut, good length and beautiful styles (and GREAT sales.) Their jersey wrap dresses are a particular favourite of mine as I'm 6'1, slim, but with tits 'n' hips, and most magazines seem to want to categorise all tall girls in the "athletic" category which is no help whatsoever to those of us who aren't.

Monsoon Vicky dress, £55

This is the latest great wrap dress: I own it in last season's edition, which has orange ferns (orange, oddly, is tremendous if you're a redhead). The v-neck can be arranged to be as demure or as boobular as you see fit, and the waist sits well too. I've got 36-37" pins and the skirt comes about three inches about the knee, which is a blessed relief given that most High Street frocks want me flashing my thighs, and most LTS lengths hang mid-calf at the moment.

Top tip: If you see something on the website that you simply must, must have, but it's not in your size, call Monsoon Home Delivery on 0844 811 0068. They'll check to see if one of their shops have it and post it out to you for £3.95. Easy peasy, and how I got my hands on my beloved black and orange Vicky.

  1. Ooh, I have the black and orange too, it was my Christmas dress this year! Totally love it, so wearable, just wish they'd do a lighter colourway for spring/summer.

  2. Wouldn't that be brilliant? They do seem to be listening though: first this new variant, fingers crossed they keep it going. Such a great style.

  3. I have the orange one and the new off-white one as it's the comfiest and most flattering dress ever. And I look pretty damn saucy in it!!

  4. I have the black and orange and other past season jersey dresses. I mst get this one; my local shop has stopped doing larger sizes which as I am a fattie is annoying. They seem to think women don't want to dress well if they are larger. Also loving that Boden now do larger sizes; when will other stores follow.

  5. How very irritating for you Anon! In that case it might be worth trying online or using the number in the article. I bought two sizes in case, and just took one back to the shop. Is win.

  7. www.tallgirls.co.UK are amazing. I'm 5'11 and their maxi dress I brought is actually TOO LONG, lol.....that's fine though as its easier to take off than add material.
The dress is lovely quality too.
Have a look of you've not been on there.
I'm well pleased as high street "maxi dresses" come halfway up my calves.....not attractive.
