Design Porn: Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park is pretty phenomenal. It spans a whopping 500 ACRES of historic landscape and is filled with gorgeous sculpture and art. It's one of the most important galleries in the country. It's free to get in as well.

As much as I love a good gallery, I also really like gallery gift shops. Love them in fact. I want cuddly toys and fridge magnets and erasers with pictures on them. If they're a bit rubbish, they remind me of school trips. If they're brilliant, then you find some excellent design pieces. Yorkshire Sculpture Park's shop falls into the latter category.

This pin board calendar is such a simple idea but it looks gorgeous. Once one month has passed, just remove the page. It's £14.

I do so like this vase by Georgina Fowler. She's inspired by fairy tales and the surreal. I wish I could afford this vase, but it's £82. Still, I can just look at the prettiness.

How much fun is this animal map print? It's by Katie Viggers and handy for remembering which pole polar bears and penguins live in. It's £22.

This Donna Wilson boat blanket is my favourite piece. I've never seen this design before. I'm not a massive fan of her animals but I adore this. It's £52 and I will take it with me on picnics.

If you're in Yorkshire, get yourself to the Sculpture Park immediately (can I come?) If not, you can buy everything in the shop online.

  1. I was there only last week. The joan miro exhibition is fabulous, but best of all they do lush cakes in the restaurant. Top tip :wear comfortable shoes, some of the exhibits are miles apart.

  2. This place looks amazing! It's only two hours from us so I feel a weekend jaunt coming on very soon... and then I can visit the gift shop in person! Tee hee!
