Sluttery Travels: Beamsley Hospital, Yorkshire
Now this is a holiday destination with a very unusual history. Beamsley Hospital is an almshouse near Skipton in North Yorkshire. It's just on the edge of the Dales and tucked away from the road. There was room for seven women to sleep, encircling a chapel so they would be inclined to worship as they passed through.
Even in the 1970s, a family of women lived here living by ancient and incredibly strict rules.
The hospital was founded in 1593 by the Countess of Cumberland and a lot of the simple fittings still stand today. And the view is pretty gorgeous too.
The building is one of the most unusual in the range of Landmark Trust properties. There are rumours of hauntings, you still have to walk through the chapel to get to your bed and the shape of the building is a curious one.
The building sleeps five across a single, twin and double and it's around £650 for four nights. That's just £32.50 per person per night in what's possibly the strangest holiday destination we've featured on Domestic Sluttery.
Oh wow, it looks incredible - so atmospheric. And what a great history.
