Nettle and Ginger Wine from Lyme Bay Winery

Apparently, we should all be eating more nettles. They're full of calcium, magnesium, iron and vitamins, it's just... when I was seven I fell off a wall into a huge bed of the buggers, and it still brings tears to my eyes.

I'm going to have to ease myself in gently, so I was thrilled when I recently found nettle and ginger wine from Lyme Bay Winery.

They do loads of the popular fruity varieties, but if you prefer your wine slightly less sweet and more zingy then this is the one for you.

The nettles give it a refreshing vivacity and the addition of some ginger wine adds a lovely little warm kick. An added bonus is it's only 5.5% alcohol, so it's a lighter way to get a bit of sauce.

You can buy them direct from Lyme Bay for £5.99 a bottle (there is £6.95 delivery too), or they are also sold in various independent wine merchants, including in-store at some branches of Adnams.

I think I've found my new aperitif.
