I think the start of a new year is one of my favourite times. It's all about plans and schemes and wanting to make things better. Unfortunately, it also clashes with not having a lot of money after the Christmas funtimes so while I may want a whole new set of furniture or to redecorate every room in the house, practicalities dictate I can't do so.
That's where knobs come in. Changing the handles on wardrobes, drawers and doors is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to update your existing furniture and bring a new look to a room.
Are we over owls yet? I'm not. Especially when I could have this little one perching on my bedside cabinet.
This ceramic lovely is down to £3 in the sale at Urban Outfitters.
After a bit more of an industrial, retro look? These cup handles by B&Q are perfect for that. They'd look especially great on desk drawers or a bathroom cabinet.
Or you could follow their suggestion and use them in your kitchen. They're £8 for a pair.
If you're after a slightly grander gesture and want some Old Hollywood glamour, you can't go far wrong with glass door handles. Graham & Green have a good selection of different coloured knobs.
They come on brass or chrome fittings and are £18.95 each (so £37.90 for a pair). I'd definitely have these on my bedroom door if I was allowed to turn it into a full on boudoir!
