Look Like You're In A Cartoon: 2D-Style Handbags
You might have to look at these pictures a few times before you get it. See that bag? It's not drawn on. It's real.
That is a photo, not an illustration.
Here's one in close up. It's called the First Date Bag. Can you imagine rocking up with that on a first date? Your beau or belle would be texting their friends, saying "I think I'm on a date with a cartoon? SEND HELP" while everyone around surreptitiously Instagrammed the shit out of you.
Look at that. You'd look like Indiana Jones. IF HE WERE A DRAWING.
These bags are from Jump From Paper, a giddy and imaginative designer duo from Taiwan. They make perfectly real, useable canvas bags look like 2D cartoons by playing with perspective, using bright, solid colours and adding thick black lines. I adore them - they're clever, fun and functional, and would make lugging your stuff to work every day a joy.
You can buy them from the Saatchi Gallery online shop for £89.95 each, or directly from Jump From Paper who will post worldwide (but beware: you may be hit by customs duties).
It's like something out of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I love them.
ReplyDeleteI must have one.
ReplyDeleteI love these too. There's a stall on the Designer and Makers Fair at Spitalfields Market that sometimes has some of these in stock. They are so fun!!
ReplyDeleteSoo soo so love these!
ReplyDeleteI love them all SO HARD. Still can't really get my head around the fact that they're real.
ReplyDeleteI can't either. I must have been staring at them for the last few hours, scratching my head in disbelief.
DeleteDo you think this is what it was like when humanity discovered fire? (or, at least invented the telly?)
Totally. I keep googling photos of people actually using them, to confirm that they do look like ludicrous cartoons in real life.

ReplyDeleteWear them together!!
Whoa. You'd be more 2D than 3D if you combined the two.
DeleteI've been staring at these for a good half hour and my eyes still don't understand. Whatever. I'm ordering one right now.
ReplyDeleteThis perfectly sums up my thoughts on them. Which one did you go for?
DeleteI finally managed to get one of these on holiday in NYC. Got the Playing Hooky one (blue and white) in a sale for $60 - delighted!
