Since I tend to naturally veer towards dresses, this week I challenged myself to only look at separates for my plus size picks. It can be hard to find plus size tops that aren't shapeless t-shirts or long tunics, but I've hunted down some more modern looks with pretty prints and simple shapes. The best bit? They're all under £50...
Forever 21+ is the perfect place to hunt down affordable little treats that will last you through the Summer. This bow print blouse is under £15 and would look just as good tucked into a skirt as it does with jeans. The line goes up to 3X (UK 24) but due to the floaty shape, you might be able to size down a bit.
Sequins might be pretty, but they're heavy, they scratch, and they have a tendency to fall off at regular intervals. They're not really suitable for Summer, so Simply Be have turned them into a print, which is available not only on this peplum top (£38, up to size 32) but on matching trousers. Wear the two together if you're brave enough, or keep it simple and team the top with black.
Navy polka dots are a classic. And not a boring, 'crisp white shirt' and 'tailored black trousers' classic, but one of those prints that will come around again and again. Lovedrobe have delivered the goods by chucking a detachable camisole underneath this sheer, long-line blouse, which is £30, up to size 32.
Butterfly print has been done to death, but it gets a bit of a graphic makeover by Evans in this £25 tee (up to size 30/32). To stop it looking dated, wear it with black leather and a huge necklace. Everything is better with a huge necklace.
If you have a wedding to go to this summer and can't bear the thought of wearing a dress, this lace tunic is a great alternative, perhaps teamed with wide leg trousers in navy or white. Available up to a size 26, it's £45 at Elvi. Pile on some bangles to take advantage of the bracelet sleeves. Arm candy, all the bloggers are doing it!
