Etsy Pick: The Happy Pencil

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love Twin Peaks. When it first aired in the UK - and everyone's parents were obsessed - I was in primary school, and we would make up our own scenes in the playground. There would always be a bit of a stramash over who would play Laura Palmer, which in retrospect is a little odd, given that she was dead, wrapped in plastic. Not the most strenuous of roles, but I guess it gave us a reason to lie down, and a use for our sandwich bags.

Steph Baxter of The Happy Pencil clearly shares my love of the show, if these Twin Peaks-inspired prints are anything to go by - whether or not she spent her final year of primary school beneath a Ziploc blanket remains to be seen. All I know is hers is indeed a very happy pencil. This The Owls Are Not What They Seem print is £18 and will make a lovely addition to my hall wall. Definitely cheaper than buying my own giant to tell me three things:

Well, thank goodness that's been cleared up.

There are two more Twin Peaks prints to show you before I stop befuddling your brain and we move on to some of Steph's other prints.

For Peakers/coffee lovers, either of these would be perfect. There Was A Fish In The Percolator and As Black As Midnight On A Moonless Night look so great together, I'm not sure I could split them up. They'll look lovely as a pair above my morning coffee spot (the sofa).

Moving on from owls and percolators, this Eat Seasonally print would be wonderful on a kitchen wall, there to remind you of the fabulous produce in season each month. Isn't it cheery? And hunger-making.

A maneki-neko! Fun fact, fun fact fans! The feline that inspires these lucky cats is a calico Japanese Bobtail. Wikipedia's great sometimes.

I know, I know - it's not winter yet. But - NEWSFLASH - it will be, and despite snow and Christmas and all that jazz being terribly fun, there comes a point during every winter when we need a reminder that spring will, eventually, arrive. And in a less literal sense, this print will reassure you that for every bad patch, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hang a little hope in your hallway.

The Happy Pencil's prints are £18 for A3 size, and just £12 for A4. There are loads more to choose from, so go and have a browse, and get your home a smiley wee Monday treat.

  1. I am sat here drinking black coffee from my special Twin Peaks Coffee mug, so of course I love this!

And my Monday has just been made a little bit brighter thanks to a bit of Agent Dale Cooper - thank you.

  2. I have no idea what any of this means, but I do like the owl print.
