Win! A leather bag from Flights of Nancy

On the tenth day of Christmas, Domestic Sluttery gave to me ... a beautiful bag from Flights of Nancy!

We've been smitten with these beautiful bags from Flights of Nancy for most of 2013, and we're thrilled to be giving one away to one lucky winner! (We have to say that, what we really want to say is get your mits off it, we're not sharing.) Flights of Nancy work with small family-run business in Indonesia and an ethical factory in India to create their bags, making sure their creations are as ethically sourced as possible and that everyone involved in the making of them is offered a fair salary and good working conditions.

If you're the lucky winner, you'll get a choice from the gorgeous bag selection. Either go for yellow with a messenger, a satchel or a holdall. Or, you can opt for the classically beautiful brown satchel - in either dark brown or natural brown leather. Even if you don't win today, Flights of Nancy are donating 10% of their December sales to Action Breaks Silence, a not for profit organisation that provides underprivileged women and teenage girls in India with self defence workshops. That's an excellent cause to support while buying Christmas presents.

What do you have to do to win one of these gorgeous bags? Just do one (or all!) of the following:
  • Leave a comment below telling us what Christmas film you're most excited about watching. Are you looking forward to Santa Claus the Movie? (Just us?) Are you A Muppets Christmas Carol fan? Is Love Actually really a Christmas film? No, The Holiday doesn't count. It's not very good.
  • Like us on Facebook and then like or comment on our Facebook competition entry. It'll go live in a minute, we were playing out last night.
  • Tweet the following: Yes please @DomesticSluts I'd love to win a beautiful leather bag from @FlightsofNancy http://tinyurl.com/p9j4c5a
  • Sign up to our newsletter using the box on the right. You'll get a £60 wine voucher when you do, regardless of whether or not you win!
  • Follow us on Pinterest and pin one of these lovely pieces (making sure you link back to this post so we can see your entries).
We'll pick a winner at random and announce in tomorrow's competition. Good luck everyone!

PS - wondering who won the Tunnock's goodies from Quince Living? That was Sarah Beedle who entered our competition via Facebook! Sarah, get in touch with us - either on Facebook for via email to claim your prize!

Oh goody! Small print (please read it). The competition will close at midnight (UK time) 12 December 2013. You must be UK based to enter, sorry you lovely overseas readers. If you're anon, your comment entry won't count and if you enter with lots of comments or a barrage of Facebook comments and tweets, we'll discount all of your entries and tell you off. The winning entry will be chosen at random and you must claim your prize within 48 hours otherwise we'll pass it on to someone else. We're not allowed to enter our own competitions but Siany firmly believes that Christmas starts when she watched Santa Claus: The Movie. She's very aware that she's the only person who likes it.

  1. It's just not Christmas until I've seen Elf. I stayed away from it for years because I don't like Will Ferrell, and now I regret all the years I didn't watch it!

  2. I am super excited to sit down this weekend and wrap all my Christmas presents to Meet me in St.Louis, singing along to all the songs, getting upset with Pop when he puts the phone down on Rose's beau, gasping for the hundredth time when Judy Gardland slaps John Truett when it wasn't his fault..ooo I love it all! It's a Christmas Tradition just for me that no one else is allowed to take part in (apart from maybe the dog if she promises not to eat any of the wrapping paper).

  3. Die Hard. It really is a Christmas film!

  4. Muppets Christmas Carol is the best Christmas film (it's not opinion, it's science!) but the Doctor Who Christmas carol has also become a favourite thing to re-watch.

  15. Drop Dead Fred!
It's just the funniest, silliest film ever and that is what Christmas is all about!

(Note: for those who don't think it's a Christmas film, it is. He gets his head stuck in the fridge, fridges are cold, it's cold at Christmas. Christmas film).

  16. I adore Santa Claus the Movie. I think there might have to be a support group.

  17. Muppet Christmas Carol, definitely! My sister and I can pretty much do a quote-and-sing-along for the whole thing. Traditionally we put it on while we're decorating the tree. Muppet Family Christmas is also brilliant...careful of the icy patch!

  18. I'm so looking forward to our annual christmas eve tradition of watching Elf and have a curry- Elf has got to be the best christmas movie ever- so many rewindable moments!

  19. I am going round my friend's house on Friday, straight from work. We're going to get into our jammies, eat good food, drink hot chocolate and watch Elf. It will be so lovely!

"Buddy the Elf, what's your favourite colour?!"

  23. It love watching It's a Wonderful Life, an oldie but a goodie. I still haven't watched Elf and I'm saving this level of inevitable joy for when I have finished work and can truly indulge in the Christmas spirit.

  24. Home Alone - the movie of my childhood (though Santa claus the movie has another fan here). And Dot and the Bunny! Not Christmassy at all but it always used to be on on Christmas morning at silly am when I was ripping apart my stocking.

  25. It's a Wonderful life of course

  26. It definitely has to be Love Actually for me and my boyfriend agrees with me on this, thankfully. We're putting up pur tree and then curling up under the duvet on the sofa with mulled wine to watch it on Sunday - can't wait! xx

  27. The Christmas film I'm most excited about watching is Bernard and the Genie. For those (probably most) of you who haven't seen it, it's the story of Bernard Bottle, who gets fired and dumped on Christmas Eve before finding a mysterious lamp in his flat. He rubs the lamp and out pops Josephus the genie, played by Lenny Henry as a family-friendly version of Theophilus P. Wildebeeste. Hilarity ensues, particularly from Bernard's nasty boss (a deliciously slimy Rowan Atkinson).

It's ridiculously silly and a bit dated (put it like this, Gary Lineker was still a proper footballer when it was made!) but I absolutely love it, and watching it is now a family tradition - my mum found it years ago on eBay and now it's something we all watch on Christmas Eve. I'd even go so far as to say it's one of the things I'm most excited about for going home at Christmas!

  28. The snowman (1982). Every Christmas day my dad and I sit to watch it on TV, and every year, he gets emotional when the snowman melts! It's a tradition I've grown to love, snuggled up on the sofa with my dad, giggly on eggnog wearing a silly paper hat!

"We're walking in the aaaaaaaaaiiiiiiirrrrrr......la numhmblahd dhudddbg moonlit niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!"

  29. GUYS. The Muppets Christmas Carol is BACK IN CINEMAS this Christmas.
REJOICE in the sight of Michael Caine dancing with Kermit and Miss Piggy...

  30. Home Alone. It wouldn't be Christmas without watching it at least twice!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm looking forward to watching The Muppets Christmas Carol at the weekend, with hot chocolate in hand, after we put the tree up!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nightmare Before Christmas - always always a Tim Burton movie, whatever the season!

    ReplyDelete
  33. National Lampoon's Christmas Vaccation. It's become somewhat of a tradition to have it on while decorating the Christmas tree and enjoying a glass of mulled wine or 5.

  36. For me, it's just not Christmas without watching The Wizard of Oz. I'd tune in to this without fail every year when I was little and it always brings back that childhood magic. Better still, I now get to watch it with my nine-year old niece who loves it as much as I do, so hopefully this will become a family tradition she'll pass on to her kids!

  39. Bad Santa, such a funny film.

    ReplyDelete
  40. My mantra is 'why limit yourself to just one?' Instead plan an exciting day full of Christmas films and mulled wine... It's a Wonderful Life, Love Actually (vote yes to it being a Christmas film!), The Snowman, Home Alone, Elf and top it off with Christmas Vacation.
And every time you need a wee/tea/lunch/wine break, hit play on the Michael Buble Christmas album to keep the Christmas spirit peaking at maximum...

  45. I've had one of these bags on my must-own list since you first posted about them. I still can't afford one :(

I believe we're screening Elf and Scrooged at our annual (well, it's the second one) films and mulled wine party this year. Along with some perfect DS minced pie fudge!

  50. I love A Christmas Story. It's hilarious. If you havent seen it yet, get to it.

  51. Tempted by Elf (could sneak it in anyway), and I'd always vote for films (not many of them around) that get to the God-bit of Christmas, but truth to tell, White Christmas does the job for me on the nostalgia/sing-along/schmultzy scale :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. White Christmas. Love me some old musicals. And Love Actually is my guilty pleasure.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Father Christmas, because it is traditional. The Filmhouse is going to have a special festive screening of that, The Snowman, and, er, something I forget, so I am going to that with a bag of chocolate. I will probably be the only adult there without a child in tow.

  54. Elf!

    SANTA'S COMING! I know him!

  55. It has to be White Christmas for me. Bing, and a bit of Christmas Swing :-)

  56. Muppets is a traditional favourite, but I've also got a massive soft spot for Nativity too these days.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Nightmare before Christmas. Love that I can start watching it at Halloween xx

    ReplyDelete
  58. Bad Santa - who can resist a bit of Billy Bob Thornton!

    ReplyDelete
  59. It has to be Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. No Christmassy in theme but its on tv every Christmas and has become a bit of a tradition for my sister and I. This year my 4 year old niece will be old enough to join in the singing

    ReplyDelete
  60. Has to be It's a Wonderful Life. Just beautiful and makes me cry every time. Then a good dose of Elf to cheer myself up

    ReplyDelete
  61. I know it's not considered to be a Christmas film, but it's set over Christmas and New Year so I think it counts. I can't wait to watch The Apartment for the 1000th time this year. Have you seen it? It's all about a man (Jack Lemmon, aka my dream man) who loans his apartment to naughty men who work at his office so that they can cheat on their wives. He falls deeply in love with Shirley Maclaine, who is secretly dating his boss, and how they all spend their Christmas and New Year. It makes me cry every single time I watch it, and always puts me in the perfect spirit for Christmas/NYE. Actually, I may go and watch it now...

    ReplyDelete
  62. All of the Christmas films, all of them! Even the bad TV one which are on every day! Although I'm partial to Elf, the Nightmare Before Christmas and The Rise Of The Guardians, I'd also like to see It's A Wonderful Life, never seen it! Maybe this year :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm going to a sing along "A Muppets Christmas Carol" at the cinema!

  64. Not so much a Christmas film, as a film at Christmas... we usually go to the cinema on Boxing Day evening to see the latest Hollywood blockbuster - this year The Hobbit part II, which I'm looking forward to anyway. We take/smuggle in the Christmas chocs with us and settle down for the glorious, wide-screen, mindless-adventure-technicolour-spectacle on offer. Yah for feel-good films!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Diehard. YES IT IS A CHRISTMAS FILM IF IT'S SET ON CHRISTMAS DAY. And who could say no to Alan Rickman's face as he falls to an untimely death?! Failing that, it had better be Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
