A Perfect Palette of Homewares

There's an arty feel to homewares at the moments, with washes of colours and all sorts of gorgeous hues. It's a really easy look to replicate whether you are skilled at watercolours, photoshop or simply - as in my case - internet shopping. If you need any more convincing, take a look at this handsome young man from the Chanel Spring 2014 collection - if it's good enough for him, it's definitely good enough for my flat.

It doesn't need to be anything that fancy (or expensive) either: these watercolour tins are just £7.50 each and are perfect for stashing all your paint brushes/make-up brushes/crap that normally lives at the bottom of your bag.

A little bit of colour or colours is a marvellously cheering thing. How gorgeous is this Index tea towel designed by Raw Color, designed for French shop The Collection? It's priced at just over 20 euro.

US shop CB2 has now made shopping from the UK much easier, which means lots of exciting new things to get our mitts on. Perfect for this arty trend is their colour block pillow. With shipping and duties included, it can be yours for £45.74.

Did you buy the bright and beautiful espresso maker we featured last week? What else to accessorise with but be this Pantone coaster set, which includes an alluring array of shades? Pick a set up for £15 from Berry Red.

Another way to imply you might be handier with a paintbrush than you actually are is Mrs Jermyn's range of cases. Her paint party iPad cover is currently reduced to £25 at Red Ruby Rouge (other shades of paint daub available).

For a real artistic statement, Anthropologie's Windsor love seat is beautiful. It's also £628. Still, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than your average masterpiece. And - if you really are handy with your paintbrush - it might be a look to try out on a kitchen chair that's in need of an update. Or, judging from the selection above, that would work pretty much anything else you've got hanging around your flat too.
