Design Porn: Rebecca McDonald
I've been staring at Rebecca McDonald's felt sculptures for a good while now (related: I wish One Day was a better film). But then, Rebecca's work commands attention in a way that Anne Hathaway's dubious Yorkshire doesn't quite manage. It's quite astonishingly detailed work and each piece can take days to make. Some of the larger pieces can take months.
This mountain goat is adorable. Look at his little beard!
Oh I do like the birds. They're tiny and cute.
This owl isn't tiny, this owl has a wingspan of 55cm. It will terrify the beejesus out of the cat.
I'm not entirely sure what a marmot is y'know. Wikipedia says that they're 'large ground squirrels' [citation needed, they really don't look all that squirrely and their tails are rubbish]. They're still cute.
Yes, the foxes have wonky eyes, yes that makes me like them even more.
Mountain hares! The one in the middle is definitely my favourite.
This is Barbara. Hello Barbara.
Oh, little bear has the weight of the world on his felty shoulders.
I think this handsome horse is the shining piece in Rebecca's menagerie. I love his tassels and sad eyes. Prices for the smaller pieces start at £150, but the bridled horse and his beautiful eyelashes will set you back £650. You can buy Rebecca McDonald's sculptures from Luna & Curious.
