Green Fingers: It's in the can with Celia Birtwell

I don't have a garden. Which is probably just as well, seeing as I'm not the most 'green-fingered' of folk. But that doesn't stop me coveting this lovely aluminium watering-can from John Lewis featuring one of legendary textile designer Celia Birtwell's most iconic floral prints. Muse of David Hockney and married to Ossie Clark, Celia's prints were most recently featured on her capsule clothing collection for TOPSHOP.

Now she's turned her hand to designing a range of gardening accessories for John Lewis, and they're oh-so pretty. I've got my fashionable eye on this watering can, but there are plenty of other items featuring the same print to tickle the fancy of any seasoned gardener - from sexy secateurs to gorgeous gardening gloves or even a nifty little flask (as reviewed by Siany) for your mulled wine *ahem* I mean steaming milky coffee.

Like I said before, I'm lucky to be blessed with a landscaped communal garden right now, but I'd still like this here can of coolness. I'd casually leave it on my, er, balcony, or even use it as a vase to hold brightly coloured bunches of flowers in an ironic way. It's £34.95 from John Lewis and may well make the perfect prezzie for the flower-loving fashionista in your life.
