Taylor Taylor: The Sexiest Hair Salon in London
I'm about to share with you my best kept secret in London. It's not a cocktail bar, or a dress shop. It's hair salon Taylor Taylor on Commercial Street in East London. The best hairdressers I've ever been to, and my go-to pretty making place for the last five years.
Yes, that is a bar in the salon reception. They'll whip up a cocktail for you whilst you wait for your appointment, or pour you a glass of bubbly while your hair gets snipped. If you're not drinking then you might even get a bit of cake with your cuppa.
They do the whole boudoir feel better than anyone else I know. And those swanky chandeliers are for sale too y'know. If you have more money than I do anyway.
Although I don't know where to parrot has got to, can someone bring him back please?
Considering Taylor Taylor really is as swanky as looks, it should be intimidating. But it's really not. Sure, the staff here are so goddamn pretty it hurts, but they're friendly too. Although in five years I still haven't quite got over the handsomeness of the male hairdressers. Ain't nothing quite like being told your have sexy hair by a handsome man making you a prettier version of yourself. Expect to do lots of blushing.
My pre-birthday haircut earlier was £52 (not bad when you throw in the bubbly). It looks fab and I'm utterly thrilled. It's all very Bridget Bardot. I also got my eyebrows done (£12, but they've currently got a 20% discount for weekday bookings) and whilst I think they could jazz up the beauty room a bit, the beautician was fab. So friendly, and she actually made having hot wax being ripped from my face kinda fun.
Taylor Taylor is my happy place. If you all book appointments now and make them too busy for me to get one, I'll be sad. But when you do book, make sure you ask for David or Robbi (the more expensive of the two). Enjoy.

Siany, who is the dishiest? :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I will venture far for a truly good hairdresser...
ReplyDeleteOh yes, tell us who's the handsomest so we know who to book!
ReplyDeleteDo you think the cocktail swung it too?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't possibly divulge. Now shoo, you dirty-minded lady girls.
ReplyDeleteI second this! I'd been longing to go to Taylor Taylor for years but couldn't afford it on my miserable trainee's salary. Started going two years ago and am an absolute fan. Love it! I've dabbled with a couple of hairdressers but am now a confirmed Ricky fan, great fun and a terrific stylist. Defo treat yourselves ladies, the cocktails are also brilliant.
ReplyDeleteIt is brilliant there - quite pricey but worth it. You didn't mention that you get your hair washed in what is essentially a golden dungeon. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteAnd Oscar at the Cheshire St branch understands curly hair. (Those of you with curly hair will know what a breakthrough this is.)
@Sara I've yet to find a hairdresser that doesn't gasp at my incredibly thick and curly hair...
ReplyDelete@Alexandra Oscar will be unfazed, and calmly tackle it while you sip on your cocktail.
ReplyDeleteHi Ladies this is Taylor Taylor PR - please visit www.taylortaylorlondon.com for our Spring beauty offers - we are offering 20% off indulgent beauty treats throughout March. So come and beautify your beautiful selves and sip a cocktail or two in our vintage inspired salon!
ReplyDeleteTaylor Taylor fan here! My favourite place for several years. I think the golden shampoo room and free cocktails swung it.
ReplyDeleteHowever my favourite hairdresser moved and I enjoy his haircuts and interesting chat far more. Jonny @ Hurwundeki round the corner (just throwing an option out there!). Only hairdresser who's wanted to chat about the book he's reading and existentialism in 1920's Paris instead of asking about my holiday or night out. (Plus best haircut ever).
Well, I have been going to Taylor Taylor for a number of years but when I booked for Craig this time around they failed to tell me that he had left! I have since found out he is now at a new salon opened up by Ricky (also from Taylor Taylor) who I used to have cut my hair too. Both great hairdressers. I'm going to try them next time - Jones & Payne on Curtain Road, near Old St
ReplyDeleteFor anyone looking for Craig or Ricky you can find them here www.jonesandpayne.com
ReplyDeleteI was looking for Ricky too! I was sad he left :-(
ReplyDeleteGlad we could help you find him! Gary James from Taylor Taylor is also at Jones & Payne.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know where Oscar from Taylor Taylor is? He seems to have moved on...
