Design Porn: Jonathan Adler's Vices Jars

I ummed and aaahed about whether or not to write about these Jonathan Adler Vices storage jars. It's not that I don't think you'll love them (you will), it's not that I don't love them (I do). It's just they're that they're the most expensive jars I've ever seen.

I spotted them in the Sunday Times Style magazine yesterday and couldn't wait to spend my money on them (there's a jar for glitter in the new London store, everyone needs a glitter jar). But then I saw the price and I balked. This candy jar is £138.

The Willy Wonka vibe is wonderful and the bold stripes make me immediately want to splash monochrome paints all over my kitchen. But this Kitty Krack jar is £128. And look at the top photo - don't they look brilliant all in a group? That would be the most expensive bunch of storage jars and then you'd have no money for glitter or candy or kitty krack.

Vice Jars are way out of my price range, but I do adore those stripes. Even if they're the most expensive stripes in interior design.

  1. I love JA! They are very spendy but I bought one of the Dolls jars in blue and white stripes in Chicago - I've been scared to use it in case I break it, but it is a thing of real beauty!

  2. See that makes me sad - beautiful things should be used!

I love the design, but these will have to stay in the JA shop instead of on my shelves.

  3. Bit of a disgrace that they've basically just changed dollars to pounds for the pricing: http://www.jonathanadler.com/vices/

Today's exchange rate would make the Candy vase about £87 (which is still wince-inducing, mind).

  4. Hmmm... I guess there's also going to be a mark-up for shipping etc. Still roughly a week's rent.

  5. Oh wow, SO pretty. SO much money. Sigh.

I think it's good you shared though because now, when I do hit the lottery (as I inevitably will of course), I know what I can spend my cash on :)

(Kitty Krack.. hehehe that's what we call the cat food in our house.)

  6. Those are amazing! If you could stop writing about wonderful and expensive things now (I'm still coveting the ludicrous teapot) that would be lovely...
