Shoe Porn: River Island Wedges by Julian J Smith

Although it makes me sound a blue-rinse away from being properly old, I don't think I really have the chutzpah to wear the bold statement print leggings that seem so vital to the high street this summer. Instead, I'm looking to show va-va-voom in more subtle ways, and what's more subtle than brightly-coloured six-inch wedges that will undoubtedly make me fall in puddles?

River Island have a little treasure named Julian J Smith as part of their Design Forum, and he has created some killer heels to make up for the lack of sunshine. Look, you can even watch a nice arty video all about it:

I like the bit where they paint the old man's face and then it snows petals indoors.

The heels come in three different shades. I think the orange print are my favourites because I already know just the dress in my wardrobe that I'm going to pair them with.

The blue print is pretty special too, though, but I think I'd probably end up continually shoving them in everyone's face to show off that colour combo. No wait, I think these are my favourite.

The yellow ones scream for a night out wearing something my mother would hate. That definitely makes them a contender for favourite. Shucks - decisions, eh? They're all £55, which is a whole lotta fun for your buck.

  1. I bought the blue print pair a couple of months ago (show-off!!) but the weather's been too rubbish to wear them yet. They are fabulous, and actually quite comfy, once you work out how to balance in them.

    1. Ooh, comfy too? Now they really must be mine. Even if the weather doesn't improve - I can imagine they're so high they'd make splashing in puddles quite fun.

  2. I already have an outfit I could wear with the thirdf ones. Unfortunately all the exciting stuff coming up this summer means I will never own them (I want to moan but I can't complain about a wedding, house move and honeymoon can I? They are all ace things)

    1. Ooh, they ARE all ace things. Ace things that *need* these shoes, right? ;) Well, maybe not the house move...

    2. I am wearing mine for my housewarming/birthday party. I think these would be ideal for honeymooning in, also.
