Design Porn: Tina Vlassopulos

Tina Vlassopolus' smile bowls have put a massive grin on my face this morning (no mean feat, I've got a bitch of a red wine hangover). They're the kind of design that I love - simple, but a little bit quirky when you look a bit closer. At first, you don't even noticed that they're smiling at you, but then you see it. They're grinning and winking and flirting with you. I'm grinning right back at them.

They're definitely bowls for sweets, not sensible things like fruit or keys. I think I want one on my new desk. You might have seen some of Tina's work before. Recognise this spiral dish?

I can't help but feel it needs a smiley face. Prices for Tina's work vary - one off ceramics can cost hundreds, little vases and dishes start at £30. The little smiley face bowls are actually sold in a set of four, so they're £100, I'm really hoping that Tina starts selling them individually. They're going straight on my 'definitely don't need but really want' list.

  1. I love these bowls!

The good news is that they are already available to buy individually, which is much more affordable than forking out for a set of four - http://tinyurl.com/smile-bowl
