Design Porn: Jenni Sparks London Map
At the moment, London is full of Olympic volunteers, being really helpful and directing people around the city. I love them. As vibrant and exciting as London is, we're not exactly known for being a friendly bunch. We're giving you the book-off on the tube and we're rolling our eyes if you don't stand on the right. Marry out aloofness with London being a bit a nightmare to navigate and I worry that we're going to find lost tourists three weeks after the Olympic park has been packed up.
This hand drawn London map by Jenni Sparks is the Olympic volunteer of maps. Bright, cheery, interesting, while telling you where all of the good shops and pubs are. The three-dimensional drawings and swirling typography are so pretty. It sums up all of the good London landmarks, as well as some quirky little places that only locals know about.
Doesn't the gherkin look cute? And look, there's the Beigel Bake! (If you're anywhere near Brick Lane, you really should head there for a salt beef bagel.) The map is produced from a geographic tube map so it's actually a useful reference as well.
The beautiful hand drawn map is available in two sizes - one costing £75, the larger one costing £130. Both are available from Evermade and if you're a local, or visiting London at any time over the Olympics, it would be a perfect reminder of brilliant and gorgeous London has been during the Olympics.
This is gorgeous - one of the best London maps I've seen. and there are lots of them. An excellent find.
ReplyDelete(I start to well up every single time I see an Olympic volunteer - is this normal?)
I know what you mean - there's something about them just being so excited about London and the Olympics that they're giving up their holidays. Mega amounts of London Pride at the moment.
DeleteAlso quite nice? London Pride ale.
