Nina Cosford is a prolific illustrator based between Hastings and London. She spends her days creating visuals delights for a range of clients as well as for her own delightful city guide books. So far you can buy a guide to London, Edinburgh and Dublin, each a three-dimensional illustrated guide to the sights of the city.
I bet the Lonely Planet can't do this...
You could easily lose a good half an hour or so browsing through the endless pages of illustrations on Nina's website. Featuring sketches and observations alongside her commissioned work for the likes of The Guardian and Nokia.
This is way better than a cheesy seaside postcard.
These pictures look so good, I want to live in them. You know, Mary Poppins style.
Nina Cosford's illustrations are simply marvellous. I love how they are both simple and detailed at the same time offering an acute awareness of everyday life. The line drawing style reminds me of street artists in France, but with a punchy colourful palette. And I do like an artist who can do pretty typography.
These are beautiful - I want to go to all of these places now. Great find!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be able to buy one for my home town of York - that would be stunning!
