Getting Fit? Tip-Top Topshop Jolly Joggers
So we've all definitely given up on our fitness New Year's Resolutions, yeah? Thought so. Slippery devils, fitness resolutions - especially when the new year in question goes and dumps a hundred truckloads of snow on you. Twice.
The good news is it's brightening up nicely now, and spring is impatiently trying to squeeze through so hard I think it might sulk and rain the whole season if winter doesn't get out of the way soon. (Please don't, spring. I need you.)
While it's sunny and not bone-shiveringly cold, I'm determined to get outside and get running for the first time in... ever. Topshop have spurred me on further with a characterful range of joggers that outshines all its competitors, with bells on. And nearly all of these are only £25. Kerching!
That check burgundy pair above? I'm all over them. Bright colours, and a design that's trendy enough to make me feel a bit less like I'm on Jeremy Kyle, without being so overly self-aware they make people point and laugh.
The graffiti print joggers have the same skinny style as the check print ones - so they're comfy without looking too baggy. Plus I can pretend I'm a bit 'street' even though I'm terrified of the yoot.
Perhaps these new-in nerd joggers would be more appropriate, thinking about it. Besides, I really like the colour. If I wanted to be a total dweeb I could buy them with a '5 6 7 8' pattern instead, and we all know I'd be unashamedly listening to Steps on my iPod while I ran (probably away from the aforementioned yoot).
Although somewhat more 2012 than 2013, I'm still in love with the bird-print thing - and these swallow print joggers are no exception.
These tie-dye joggers are the only ones that aren't £25. They're a sneaky £28, but look at the pretty colours! Imagine when you've been jogging for about six months so you get a bit less beetroot-coloured in the face region, and the crunchy autumn leaves you're running through match the colour of your joggers. That's romance, that.
Lastly, if you like your comic-book style with a healthy dose of subtle, then how about the comic burnout joggers? Grey enough to match whatever trainers you decide on (more on them soon) but with all the BOOMs and explosions you could ever want.
Have I spurred anyone into exercise? Do I get my own DVD now?
Those ones in the last photo... the symmetry drawing a little too much attention to the crotchety area no? Just me?
ReplyDeleteI really hadn't noticed this, and now I can't look at anything else...
DeleteHa, a crochety Kaboom. I guess maybe sees these as more for lounging and loving than actually jogging...
ReplyDeleteHaha, much as the phrase 'a crotchety Kaboom' is AMAZING (points to you!), I can't imagine I'd be setting the mood for 'loving' in joggers...
DeleteI shall just have to run so fast no one can see the wayward patterning in that area.
Ooops, I meant to say 'the designer sees these...' ... doh!
ReplyDeleteDespite myself, I think I like the 'NERD' ones. Can you even imagine me wearing them?! No. But I'd lounge about the house in them, being all nerdy with my Antiques Roadshow.
ReplyDeleteOoh, you can lounge and learn at the same time. That's exercise for your mind, that.
DeleteYou're going to get into a hot sweaty mess running in these. Get yerself some proper running leggings from somewhere unsexy like Sports Direct and save these for the sofa. You want moisture to be wicked away from your body and if you run in these you'll *hate* running cos you'll feel weighed down and hot and bothered.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice, Emma. :) When I get good at it (which frankly may be never!) I'll invest in some proper gear - but pretty joggers are what's motivating me to get started for now!
DeleteGood luck! You'll get good at it - everyone does :) Hope you enjoy running. If you're a complete newbie I recommend the NHS Couch to 5k podcasts. You get them through itunes and they are brilliant - they teach you how to build up to running for longer. The music is hilarious but, seriously, best thing I ever did. There's a woman who tells you when to walk, when to run, and says well done too. I've nearly cried when she's told me I've done great. Ha!
DeleteThat is just BRILLIANT! I will look them up now - sounds perfect for me. Thank you so much for your help. :)
DeleteThey look a bit like PJs, which to be honest is what most/all of my joggers are used for anyway.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I am pretty sure after I've been running all of.... about thrice, I'll probably use them for exactly the same thing.
