I, too, will be wearing my super-comfy pjs as long as possible, and snuggling up near the aga in my mother-in-law's kitchen since I don't have an aga at home so it attracts me like a moth to a candle-flame. However, once it starts ceasing to be respectable to wear pjs, I will probably put on a green, 50s style, hell-bunny dress as it's the same colour as a christmas tree and has an adjustable belt to help me get through christmas lunch unscathed.

Apparently we are going to mass so I'll (hopefully) be wearing my tartan velvet jumpsuit due to arrive imminently from asos with boots and a blouse underneath to make it more church appropriate. Then I'll be switching to slippers with it later for mooching.

My sister and I tend to try to wear something pretty, and then as the day goes on we accumulate clothes - comfy jumpers, Christmas socks, anything we open... by the end of the day all trouser buttons are undone and we're feeling ill - it's not an elegant sight!

No pampering session is complete without donning something a bit sparkly (but with a bit of stretch for the indulgences of the day). This year a black velvet topped and sequin skirted dress from Mango.

ReplyDeleteBecause Christmas last year was spent in South Africa on the beach wearing shorts and a matching Mr. Christmas tshirt (ala the Mr Men) that I got for me and my twinny bro as we were spending christmas apart, this year will be all about the winter layers, and whatever treat santa has bought me as is tradition. Christmas in Dudley wins hands down every year :D

ReplyDeleteWe are going away to a cottage, just the two of us but that doesn't mean I won't be injecting some Christmas fun into my clothing choices. I will start the day in pyjamas, which I will eat breakfast in. After a nice soak in the bath I will change into something with glitter on to cook/ the lunch in and retire by the fire with cheese, biscuits and port with a nice warm Christmas jumper. However, if I win this dress, I will scrap plans of cooking and indulge in dinner at a pub wearing my beautiful new dress and attempting vainly not to dribble gravy or custard down it.

Papercuts on my fingers from panicked last minute present wrapping, mulled wine stains down my dress, crumbs round my mouth from shovelling in the cheese and crackers (whoops), stolen tinsel from the tree draped round my neck, an excitable (or is that drunken?) glint in my eye, and a spring in my step as my siblings and I dance around to our favourite Christmas choons. ReplyDeleteI'm with my in-laws on Christmas morning, then will be hopping in a cab down to my parents' house for Christmas afternoon. There will be a lot of food and drink at both halves of this Christmas, so I will therefore wear something loose-fitting, and that DOES NOT SHOW BOOZE STAINS. And, actually, since this fairly accurately describes my whole wardrobe, I should be fine. Though if I win this dress, I will probably wear that and DAZZLE everyone with it, and some killer heels which I'll reserve the right to exchange for slippers after about 10 minutes.

It's a toss up between '50s sparkle (dark blue halterneck dress covered in gold stars; I don't often get to dress like a fairy in the daytime!) or leggings & glitter legwarmers. Though to be fair, it may well end up being both.

Because Dad's working on the 25th we're having two Christmas days this year. On the 22nd I shall probably wear one of my two new pairs of jeans. On the 25th I'll wear my stand-by red kneelength dress. Or maybe the other way around, I haven't really decided yet.

ReplyDeleteThanks to the fact that my sister has a Finnish boyfriend, we get to celebrate on the 24th AND the 25th. Awesome. I think the 24th will involve Christmas jumpers (last year I got my sister and her chap matching Christmas pudding ones, very classy) and for the 25th I have a new LBD (which will also do the rounds for the work Christmas party and another party next weekend) which I'll be wearing with those amazing turquoise Topshop shoes with the silver glittery heels.

ReplyDeleteIt will have to be something red. I have a lovely vintage 60's dress with a nordic white scene across the front and a big collar. I wore it last year and was willing it to snow so that I could go and prance around in a real snow scape. If I won the dress I would of course be wearing that (with red mary quant herringbone tights).

I'll probably go with a pencil skirt dress in black obviously a classic or a pencil skirt with a nice blouse, probably all black too. It'll be the first christmas with my boyfriend's parents so have to make a good impression. Topped off with a retro hair set from the 40s and classic pin up make up.

ReplyDeleteA huge part of our Christmas tradition is new pyjamas on Christmas Eve, so I hope to spend the first part of the day lounging around in a Topshop nightshirt and long socks. Then it's into glad rags for lunch! This year I have a rather gorgeous vintage dress and some (thankfully) not-so-vintage underwear. Heels are a must, but rest assured, it's only because I don't move from the sofa. Aesthetics over practicality on a day when we eat and drink for twelve hours straight. So excited!
